Ed Roth, Big Daddy Ed Roth and Von Dutch before that pouser ass clothing line shit came out did more. And Alex X, Shit The Offenhausers, Ed Isky, they all brought it to the mainstream back when, All Boyd did was make it marketable en masse, like Henry Ford with an assembly line. He did do a good job of that, but I wouldn't give hime the credit you did up there.

I wonder what happened and why they are holding back on the details of his death?

The show was somewhat entertaining before most of his original crew started jumping ship. That one machinist (Mike?) was funny as shit. He always had a stupid look on his face that cracked me up...

      RIP

He had that look on his face from crashing his 55' chev and busting all the bones in his face and going thru years of reconstructive surgery.

As far as the show, he is selling a product. So much of that product was just the name Boyd Coddington. If that is selling out than so be it. The man made rolling art, every single car that he released were distinctly boyd coddington. As far as chip foose goes, you wouldnt even know who he was if not for boyd coddington. At least Foose gets his hands dirty. IMO if you are going to take credit for something you should actually work on it. Yes, he would thank his crew, one time at the unveiling. What about the entire rest of the show where he talks about what a beautiful car "he" is building, and do you see him working until 2AM then coming back in Sat. morning and working all day to finish by the deadline he set himself? no. I respect that at one time he contributed to the hot rod community, but as far as his involvement on the show, he seems entirely uninvolved.

Nobody argues against the importance of the crew but those guys are working under Boyd's name, reputation, and his legacy. None of those guys have to make the initial investment or take a hit in their paycheck if the shop loses money on a bad project. Boyd did all of the wheeling and dealing and gave them a place to work. He deserved to take however much credit that he wanted to.

Who was the guy, Mike was it? That crashed with Boyd's son and had all the surgery and could like barely move his face.

to say BOYD took all the credit-- Its his shop and name for christ sake!!! of course they are "his" cars they built.
If you cant see who built them on the TV show you are the idiot then. Look what the man made for himself.
back in 1996 I bought a set of " BOYDS" 18"wheels for my slammed minitruck. At the same time, Boyd "gave the company to his son- who ran the company bankrupt---(which sucked for me when a center cap was stolen from one of my wheels here in germany) .
Boyd then took what was left of the name, and reopened"BOYD CODDINGTON" wheels- which told me sorry about the center cap, but that was a "different" company and they dont have any pieces left.

I have huge respect for the guy, reguardless of how he "looked" on TV.
hell, he had his ex and present wife both working for him in the same company--respect!

Yeah he was all about respect. That's why he filed bankruptcy and fucked over a bunch of other businesses.
Respect isn't the word I would use.
