I'll throw this out & see what you think - what do you think of families having the option to be the one who kills the convict? Let them choose the method of death too - even if it meant a few hours of slow torture before a final deathblow - I doubt they are so considerate as to grant a quick, clean death to their victims, so let's give 'em real payback. "Eye for an eye" type justice.
I have a concern about this form of justice. What if they later discover who the real killer is/was and the person who was convicted was later found innocent? I don't think that I could live with myself knowing that I torchured an innocent man to a long painful death. OTOH it might not seem so bad in cases like this where the guy confessed and proved his own guilt.

I'll agree with most people here, that shit is FUCKED UP. I have a 2 year old daughter, and the thought of anything like that happening to her makes me double over. Kind of makes you wish for a pair of real-life Boondock Saints. Where do I sign up?

Like you cant lie about being locked up for murder if your court papers say "Spitting on the sidewalk too many times". These are the only people that have a blanket green light on them. Child molesters and rapists. No justification needed, they get got.

                    This is true.
I would be all for strapping him naked to a cross in a publicly accessible location, and let society teach him his lesson. Unfortunately, someone would shoot him, so it wouldn't really work. people need some patience

He should be strapped to a table and have his head sawed off with a rusty ass hack saw.

Yeah, I dont understand why our society doesnt operate under the notion that if you commit murder, you will be murdered in the same fashion in which the crime you committed. It seems like only perfect justice to me. I think it would make people think twice about doing something knowing that it will be done to them later if convicted of the crime.
