congrats. And the centrifuge kinda sucks, but I didn't think it was as bad as its reputation.

If you have any questions about the big-wing side of the house, give me a shout. I can speak mostly to the COD, but I have some insights (and lots of contacts) in the E-2 world. (seriously- fighters aren't as romantic as you would think. You'll see when you get there.)

            Congrats on becoming a hooker!

All the jet pilots looked the same to me...

Thanks, hopefully I'll be able to shoot more this year assuming the Reno Air Races are allowed to continue. I've got lots more where those came from if there is interest in seeing them.

I agree. Jets have their place, but I'd rather fly around in a prop driven plane than in a jet any day of the week. That is unless I have the chance to fly in either a TR1/U2 (highly unlikely) or an SR71 (never ever possibly going to happen.) That said, if I had an opportunity to ride around in a jet trainer or fighter of some sort, I wouldn't say no. If given the opportunity to fly somewhere (assuming its not across a large expanse of water) in either a Cessna 172 or a 747, I'd pick the 172 every time.

What can I say, I like propellers and reciprocating engines.

It's true. Jets are cool and you do cool stuff, but it is literally hours upon hours of studying, which doesn't end when you finish the RAG. In the fleet now and I still study all the time, only difference now being that I have a ground job. I'm not exaggerating when I say it's about 8-10 hrs/day minimum (and regularly 12+), at least if you work in skeds like me, and are going through the SFWT syllabus. Yay. Don't get me wrong, I love it and I wouldn't want to be doing anything else, but there is something to be said for the COD and only really doing one basic thing every day, plus no night traps, plus per diem and not living on the boat.

I think that's a DeHavland Comet, and and early one at that based on the shape of the windows. Since it was one of if not the first pressurized airliner, they had issues with the windows letting go and causing massive decompression. The redesigned it with round windows and that fixed the issue.

Here are some more pics for you guys.

That should cover it for a little while.

                      Enjoy,

The part starting at 2:04 is pretty entertaining.

Bob Hoover is an amazing guy. I loved watching his routine in both Old Yeller the P51 and his Shrike. A fantastic pilot.
