Cool video here - it starts out with the normal ground school talk....explaining vortex from props and wings - nothing to eye opening there - blah, blah, blah. But....then the guy goes on to explain why ducted props (and jet fans) work better. And why an engineered opening rather then a straight tube works even better(Hit - your get a low pressure in font of the duct - and a higher one behind it). The ducked fan and cowling info was really interesting! Reminds me of the calculations that you do on rocket engines to capture all the thrust.
We have a guy at work on an exchange tour who is a Hog pilot by trade......he seems to think anything more than 300 knots is like really really fast, and also admits to not liking it when he has to fly greater than 10k feet above the ground. Pretty entertaining. That being said, I have instructed several of his BFM (dogfighting) flights and he is actually quite a natural in the Super Hornet for how little experience he has in it.
