I'm off to Reno for the air races. The next 3.5 days are going to be amazing with media credentials. I'm looking forward to really pushing the envelope as a photographer.

Well I am going to go to K-State Polytechnic next year for a double major in Unmanned aerial systems and commercial pilot. After that, not 100% sure. Might go into the air force but I'm 6'4" and there height limit for flying is 6'5" so that might not work out :D

why would that be a problem? you are under the limit. are you expecting to grow a couple more inches? usually the disqualifying factor is eyes. have you looked into air force rotc? i don't know much about military aviation. i put some effort into it but i was never accepted when i was that age. the clinton administration brought a lot of military down sizing. i do know a thing or two about commercial airlines though. if you need advice along those lines, drop me a pm.

in world war 2 the fuel was called 115/145.

160 octane is a special order from a refinery for this sort of event. normally high horsepower turbo/supercharged piston airplanes are simply detuned to run lower octane fuels. that just wouldn't be acceptable for an unlimited air race. needless to say, you cannot go to your local fixed base operator and find anything other than 100 low lead and jet fuel these days.

if i were to guess, i would suppose that fuel costs well north of 8.00/gallon.
