How, that screen flashes for a second. I tried to enter the boot setup, but cant, and the only other screen i get allows for only...

Boot in Safe mode/with networking/with command prompt- none of these work
boot in last known working config
      boot normally

you have to format drive C and reinstall windows... its the only way to get rid off THE BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH.

I'm assuming you're trying to boot setup off of a Windows CD. You'll need to instruct the computer to boot from the CD and not from the hard disk. Go into the BIOS and find "Boot Order." Set it so that CDROM gets a higher priority than "Hard Disk Drive," save and restart. Computer should now boot off of the Windows install CD, and you can format and reinstall windows.

Make sure you get ALL the updates, and install antivirus and stuff. http://free.grisoft.com/ and http://www.threatfire.com are the two free ones that I would use if I had any Windows machines.

Yeah. those are what I used when I was on windows as well. She wants to get the shit off her HD, so I am taking it to work tomorrow to see what I can do.

If you want to get stuff off the hard drive first, you can boot a Live CD (like the Ubuntu Linux Live CD), and then use that operating system to copy stuff to another disk, to storage over the network, to an external hard drive, or burn it to a CD. Just be careful you don't copy any infected files. I'd be leery of copying anything that's not very important.

You might end up copying a file that has a virus attached/part of it though. Then you are back in the same place you started.

I couldn't very well screen shot the dead computer. So I filmed it, and read the blue screen of death on my apple.

Yeah, she probably has been downloading porn, oh well...
