Is salvia the next marijuana? Prison Term? Seriously?

I actually wanted to point this idiot out more than anything...

"As soon as we make one drug illegal, kids start looking around for other drugs they can buy legally. This is just the next one," said Florida state Rep. Mary Brandenburg, who has introduced a bill to make possession of salvia a felony punishable by up to five years in prison."

I read an article a couple of weeks ago stating that 1 in 100 Americans are now behind bars, and we still have people saying stupid shit like this. How in the world will taking some young adult and throwing him in jail for a few years, for simply experimenting with some dumb shit, be advantageous to anyone!!!?

"Don’t let the anthem fool you. The land of the free says “Go to Jail” to more than one in every 100 adult Americans, actually 99.1. What’s scarier is that one out of every 34 of the 230 million adult Americans are under the correctional system’s “guidance,” in jail or out on probation. This makes the US el numero uno jailer in the world, ahead of China, Russia, Brazil, India, Mexico, South Africa, England and Japan."

I'd be more worried with the fact that the nation is going to have waves of institutionalized people flooding society in the future....

i would agree with that. some people just think the answer is to put them in jail but jail is kinda like a school where you learn new things like stealing car or other iteams and how to get drugs over the boarded. its just stupid how people think jail is the only way to keep some one from doing some thing.

I'm not advocating for the drug but what was said in the article was right. Not too many people use it and, after experiences with it, it lasts a maximum of about 25 minutes.

So 25 minutes of tripping out for 20 - 40 dollars isn't really practical.

Making something a felony to do is just an easy way out of trying to solve the "problem".

"Some say legislators are overreacting to a minor problem, but no one disputes that the plant impairs judgment and the ability to drive."

Ya THINK? So, basically with that mentality that you can't drive under the influence of something, they can make it illegal? Salvia is NOT something to mess with like a party drug or especially any sort of activity while on it, I haven't myself, but I'd venture to guess I know more and am more responsible than most who have that are not really experienced with it...

Fuck em, if they want to crack down on it that's just another stupid law about things they don't understand simply in order to stupid and darwin-proof the world.

Salvia is not a drug to play around with, its fucking powerful as all getup and will throw you to ego loss and back in no time. Jailing people for posession of drugs is stupid, but I don't see salvia becoming the next marijuana in any facility, its simply too unpredictable of a drug.

In the article, they talk about a kid that committed suicide and are blaming it on salvia. But then they say this:

"According to reports, the autopsy found no traces of the drug in his system, but the medical examiner listed it as a contributing cause."

They found no traces, but are still blaming it? WTF?

there are alot of people who deserve to be in jail along side those who should probably never get out, however; considering those figures, something has to be re-thought. Some of these crimes don't even affect others yet the punishments cause all kinds of greater damage than the crime itself...

Salvia was such an interesting adventure. I do not in any way think someone could even atempt driving under it's influence. I'll tell you this, my ENTIRE world never turned into "Lego brick vision" off a mary jane smoke session. Salvia left me unable to wrap my conscious around for hours. Because it's not illegal as of yet, I still have the leftover's because I was not willing to mess around with it again. But, as soon as it too becomes illegal like many research chems like 5Meo-DipT, 2cb, 2ct-7 and the like, I'll be throwing it away, to follow along with all the other legal chems that stoopid people did stupid stuff on, to get Johnny Law to look at and make it illegal.

^ "the author argues that not only are our constitutional rights violated by punishment for such crimes, but that enforcing ineffectual, costly laws results in the needless jailing of thousands each year, and yield suffering and social discrimination for many harmless non-conformists."

This is retarded. Years back, salvia intensified gravity so much for me I was stuck in a lawn chair in front of a fire pit hovering above a stadium filled with people as I drooled all over myself.

Salvia extract kicked some ass...oh yea, and I bought it on ebay.
