if you never seen it "Siege of Firebase Gloria", most critics say its one of the most realistic of a Vietnam portrayal, and Cole Hauser's father was the lead in it, pretty dope

war movies' place in our culture, frickin odd. some dudes who want to tell a story like they see it. even though they never seen war at all. but still trying to make audience see it their way.

I saw the hurt locker, which was good in its own way, worth a netflix or download. supposedly written by a war reporter than spent a lot of time in the sandbox. for whatever thats worth.

When i was in basic training, (1982) one of our squad leaders got a little too big for his britches, so to speak. One night, about 7 guys came to his bunk (floor-level, not stacked) and beat the living shit out of him. I saw them do it, as my bunk was about five bunks away. The next morning in formation, the TI looked at his black eye and swollen cheeks and asked him what the fuck happened.....the squad leader told him he slipped in the shower. He resigned his leadership post later that day.

Seriously though, I'm sure they have all been stated but: Kelly's heros, We were soldiers (gets me every time,) Das Boot, flags of our fathers/letters from iwo jima, black sheep squadron (series, I know) Spies like us and of course U571.

Hate enemy at the gates, any self respecting war movie shall not have a love story twist IMHO.
