No, I'm at work right now and I actually took sometime to write those information. I've been in the industry long enough to assist y'all with finding the right web hosting company. Even if you don't choose our company, I just want to make sure that you have approach the correct way of searching for the best suitable web hosting company.

If price and perks to a web hosting company are your main concerns, then select any cheap web hosting company and deal with them. However, if reliability and excellent customer service support is what y'all are looking for, then we are that company for you and rest assured the money you invest on your web hosting account with us is going towards providing you reliable servers backed by our US-based tech support located in Virginia Beach, VA.

Gate.com? I heard they were doing good until I did more research in google with the keywords "gate web hosting sucks" and go figure
When you're as big as Affinity Internet (and it's associated child companies), you're bound to have a few people who are unhappy. My quick research indicates that your hosting company runs around 30K domains. It's a very nice number, but the entire Affinity/Hostway umbrella has well over 500K domains. Dreamhost has an insane number of domains under their belt as well (but I think they oversold a little too much and thus are slow/unreliable). As with any business, it simply isn't possible to please every customer.

Just so you know, I'm not defending Affinity in any way or putting down your company. In fact, I applaud what you guys are trying to do and it seems like you have a cool business model. I just want to make sure everyone's facts are straight.

Yes, sir! I concur. I don't want to praise the company I work for nor do I want everyone to sign up with me, so I can fix up my e30 quickly, haha, but the fact of the matters are true per your research.

I wish I didn't work for this company, so I don't sound bias, but IMHO, I'd rather go with a smaller company who has control over their servers and domains rather than the big companies who carries tons of domains which means they probably have more problems and most likely didn't take care of them from the get go, but rather learns to deal with them as they come in; I can't afford that when I'm running a business (I can't afford to have a site down from time to time). I know downtime is inevitable, but at least don't be down for more than 5 hours a year.

Before I started working for InMotion Hosting, I did a little research as to what type of servers they carry and what I found out is the servers they carry are comparable to the big web hosting companies' servers in addition to their CISSP compliant Data Center and the only difference is that InMotion Hosting is growing at their pace in order to provide reliable servers versus growing way too fast by automatically accepting anyone in the server like the other web hosting companies.

It scares me to know that a web hosting company can just accept anyone to automatically enter a given shared or VPS server especially after I was assured that I am paying for reliability. It is like applying for an apartment unit in an apartment complex and no one is doing a background check nor a credit check especially after I was assured that the apartment complex is safe, so my potential neighbors maybe sex offenders, murderers, thieves, suicide bombers, and the lady next door doing a porn movie, but they don't tell you that. I guess I don't mind the girl next door doing a porn movie, haha, but I do mind if she's always using the hot water and eating up all the resources while I'm stuck with cold water. In other words, I do mind if a porn website in a given shared or VPS web server is eating up all the CPU and memory processing power causing latency on my web site or potential downtime. Anyways, that's MHO.

Just to bring this back from the dead.

              I went with 1and1.

Their technical support is GARBAGE. I wasted 3 hours of my life with 7 different tech support people (from india presumably), as well as two different tech support guys through e-mails.

All I get with my inquiries is borderline automated responses of the "have you checked if your computer is plugged to the wall" type. In short, I keep getting an e-mail receipt that they sent an important form to me. Me apparently means an incorrect e-mail address. No biggie, right? Apparently, changing an e-mail is impossible in their system. I tried continuously to get everything done.

Mind you, I am a retard when it comes to web hosting related. If web hosting had to be related to automotive mechanics, I would be the guy trying to replace the blinker fluid. Yet by messing around I have found out more information than these guys have provided me, and while I keep providing them with everything they ask for, they still seem to NOT be able to process a simple request.

Sorry, extremely frustrating to say the least.

1and1 has proven to be extremely poor with technical support so far. And it's sad, because I've been nothing but impressed by everything else from them so far.

1and1 sucks donkey balls. Server latency is a bitch. I never dealth with their support though. IMO rackspace is #1.

Hmm, stuff I've hosted with 1and1 has always been fast. Maybe they've upsized a lot in the year or so I haven't needed to host from them...

Never had to actually communicate with support, though, so I don't know how that's like.

This is retarded. You don't need to sound white, you just need to sound intelligent. Those are two completely different things. Most of the time you can tell by a person's VOICE (not "lingo") if they are white or whatever else. I would much rather do business with an intelligent black/hispanic/asian/whatever person than a white person speaking "street lingo".
