Memorial Day Invitation

I made out again this year.
On the way I cut through downtown early in the am. At my intersection there was a transit bus that pulled out into the lane as I was prepping the right turn. So I downshifted and turned in front of him.
Next thing I see is the cop car with lights behind me.
Long story short, the officer sees my 30 flags, asked me what I was doing. Told him about putting flags out on Memorial Day and he let me go on my way.
Good karma!
It was good to take a moment and pay respects.Leave a comment:

Great idea... we just lost our great Grandpa (mother side) he was a French commando, with more metal in his body than bone... used to freak me out sticking magnets on his head! LOL.Leave a comment:

It is really just as easy as one person and one flag. For me the day is well spent by just showing up. I wish it was a national standard but it has to start somewhere.
I believe the guys on this board are the best starting point you could ask for. One flag bro.Leave a comment:

That seems like a great idea-- if you weren't in Florida I'd join you. Anyone in Boulder?Leave a comment:

A+May 26th is Memorial Day and I imagine most of us with be off. I throw this request out there for anyone who has time and a few dollars.
This is what I have been doing and it is something I wish could happen on a national level.
Go to the local Target or dollar store or flea market and pick up a few of the small american flags. Next go to ANY cemetery, park and just walk around until you find the tombstone of a veteran. Place the flag one footstep away from the stone at the head of the grave.
This whole thing probably takes an hour from your day and a few less dollars from the mod sheet. It gives back more than you can imagine.
I found a WWI vet and a new grave of a 19 yo Marine. Neither one had a flag. I bet the parents of the Marine probably couldn't go there yet.
Some cemetaries will give you the flags.
All I am asking is for you guys to consider it. If you have a political viewpoint and don't want to be a a part of this, thats kool. I ask you please don't hate on this post
You are a good man.Leave a comment:
