To bad my wife and I actually bought a house we could afford.
Where is angryresponsiblehomeowners.com?
Yea, that's what's got me hot. I was "prequalified" for 2 1/2 times the amount of the house that I actually ended up buying. There was no way I could have ended up buying a house at what they said I could "afford". I wish I could have gotten a teaser rate to buy a 100k+ higher house than I ended up with and then had the gub'mint bail me out of my shitty ARM, that would have been sweet. Too bad that I'm a sucker that got a good fixed rate on a house that I could actually afford.
Add me to the list of responsible homeowners. Bought a house I could afford, got a low fixed rate and I pay all my bills. I have no CC debt and if I don't have money for something I don't buy it. Wow. I get the shaft now.
Guess I should live it up, run from the bill collector and have anything I want. The gov will bail me out on my house and I can always claim bankruptcy to start on a clean slate. Heck, if I get everything in my name and go bankrupt I'll just have my wife do everything in her name and then we'll trade off every 5-7 years!!
We bought our place in '03 and we got a fixed rate 5% mortgage.
Had I known, I would have gotten an ARM, bought about $300,000 more of house and let my good Uncle Sam pay for it!
Seriously though, this pisses me off too. Since I left my prior firm in early 2006, and started working for myself, there have been ups and downs, but I have just tightened the belt, cut expenses and did what I had to do to stay afloat. People who maxed themselves out on the intro rate payments had to have SOME inkling that they could get whacked with a rate change. Hell, when they started to creep up - they should have re-financed and gotten into a fixed rate then.
Sad reality is, most of them probably got seconds to buy unnecessary SUVs, vacations, etc etc . . .
