If we purchase fruit and vegetables it will go to Mexico,
Honduras an Guatemala.
If we purchase a good car it will go to
Germany.
If we purchase useless crap it will go to Taiwan and none of
it will help the American economy.
The only way to keep that money
here at home is to spend it on prostitutes and beer, since these are
the only products still produced in US. I've been doing my part.Comment

it's funny because the BC government did something similar - they gave out $100 to everyone with the intentions that people would use it to reduce carbon emissions. something like 75% of recipients spent it on gas. $6/gallon gas & carbon taxes FTL. goverment & BS politicians can kiss my ass.Comment

Buy a Scooby, it's likely made in Indiana. (even if profits go to JPN)Comment

Yup. InBev, which already had ties with AB anyway. So the humorous reasoning has some holes in it, but it's a global economy. Their money comes here too. But a lot of our stuff is ag or services, not necessarily the same as the manufactured goods we receive with lower unskilled labor costs abroad.

Has anyone seen the huge "America" branding on their packaging as of recent? I'll snap a shot next time I'm at the store. It's rather ironic.Comment

The stimulus package is stupid. We're going to give you some money. The money came from, your money. Lets fill this side of the lake with water from the other side of the lake.sigpicComment

The funny thing about it is it was intended for people to go out and spend. But instead, due to the current state of the economy, almost every person I've talked to paid either their rent or bills with it. Including myself.Comment

You know what is ruining/will ruin the US and global economy? Environmentalists. Not GWBoosh, not OPEC, not Obama, not HRC, not our mindless politicians on the hill... the environmentalist left.
You can thank them for everything from the high prices of gasoline to the high cost of food, the water you bring into your home, the heating bill, etc.
Does this mean we shouldn't use alternate engergies and prattice sustainable living? no. but case in point... locally on the OR coast they finally caught onto the concept of wave farms (something that has been in use in Scotland or Ireland I believe for some time). They wanted to put one in out here that would power X number of communities on the coast without hurting the environment (no waste, completely clean - or nearly completely, and is completely sustainable). So what happens? Some environmentalist whacko decided to go about the process of doing everything legally possible to block the usage of wave farms citing that it would look bad, could kill fish, not a viable option, and generally impacts the environment. WTF!? These same people are opposing natural gas lines, wind farms, hydro power, etc... all of which helps get the US population off of oil for things other than cars.
It worries me that we have the capability to do these things, and then the lack of application of these technologies will only further cripple the country. If you think that big oil is out to hurt the country, think again. Find your local environmentalist tree sitter, and thank them for killing the US economy and damaging global financial markets.[IComment

My stim check was only $300.
And economy sucks because US got rid of many blue collar jobs, and have shit loads of people sitting in offices doing jack shit, pretending to be important.
There's more money in car insurance than building cars. That's messed up.
Since most US jobs do not produce any sort of product, we have no leverage against countries that make everything for us. We can't expect to trade services for product, especially when Indians learning broken english and how to answer telephones.
Problem is with American people. We sued and unionized the hell out of our employers, so they're afraid to give jobs. Why would I pay Ford employee $80 per hour, when Toyota pays $53. So now Chevy builds cars in Mexico and Canada and pays only $19/$47. Simple math.Comment
