I'm gonna have to make a thread soon as it seems I will be leavng the Republic of Kalifornia for a more gun friendly state. I may need some advise as BB guns are the norm out here for us non-crimminals.

I shoot left handed, most AR's made during the last 15 years or so have a bulge (brass deflector) that keeps lefties from getting burnt. If your heart is set on a bullpup design in .223 you should check-out a Steyr Aug clone. A company called Microtech makes one they call the MSAR (around $1600), another company has a brand called AXR (about 2K). Steyr is rumored to begin production in the US as well. These guns can be made lefty safe with a few parts (bolt). FN also makes a bullpup design in .223 and 5.7, but I'd rather have an AUG copy...some consider it the best bullpup platform.

the 6.8 and the 6.5 are great up calibers for the AR platform. You can find more info here than most places.

            6.5 info and my choice....

            6.8 info

I had a .50 beowulf and shot it a total of 11 times. Thats 11 rounds. It kicked worse then my 12 gauge and traded it pretty fast. With the price of the ammo I have no regrets.

As far as 30-06 goes. Great round but 308 is a better projectile and there is more 308 out there at a cheaper price than the 30-06 counter part.

Guy knows his stuff! The AUG is rumored to start showing up the 3rd or 4th quarter this year. I have my fingers so crossed!

wow! i hope that the performance of the gun makes up for the aesthetics of it!

That AUG copy is 100000000x better than that bushmaster will ever be!

Shoot one and youll understand. A real AUG right now in preban form runs around 3 to 5k each.

sorry, I have just seen way to many bad stories on that bushmaster. Its a bastard son of bushmaster!

I have read about bad things on them too. So much so that it swayed me from looking at the Bushmaster AR15 when I was buying and ended up going with the Rock River...

i'm lefty and when hot casings are an issue i've been known from time to time to pull out the old paintball mask haha. seriously though, it gets the job done. You don't have to get large bulky retarded halo looking shit, can get half masks if you find a full mask or helmet to be too bothersome.

i actually ended up wrapping my dad's wrist brace around my chin because it had Velcro straps.

NOW has anyone actually shot one of the aug's or a copy?
that thing just looks kinda awkward for varmint hunting. close quarters combat yes, i can see it.

Bushmaster is a great company. Just the bullpup design sucks. The DC sniper used a Bushmaster AR. And I bought one in support after they tried to shut them down because of the sniper. Stupid Dems and their thinking!

FYI there are companies who make case/brass deflectors for AR15's for those who are left handed and need to keep the hot brass away from your face. As seen in this picture just above and behind the ejection port.

EDIT --- these deflectors can be purchased for around $20 too...

I have shot that exact copy. Its an amazing gun and being bullpup, its overall length is much shorter than the AR platform. Its got a quick detach barrel that you can have changed in a matter of minutes. Which in full auto is a blessing to be able to change a hot barrel without tools of a vise.

The accuracy is on the money but I was only about to shoot it at 100 yards. Sucks to live in a urban environment.
