So I just found out I have cancer..

The Dr. says it's Stage IIa mainly because he could see a little in the upper chest area that I didn't catch when looking at my PET scan.

I know Tara and everyone else was hoping for Stage I but I knew deep doen that is a rare catch (maybe if the doctors hadn't jerked me around for 2 months they could have caught it as Stage I). I was just excited that it wasn't Stage III+ but I could tell Tara almost lost it in the Dr. office. It's been particularly hard on her since the day I had to tell her because she lost her dad to metastatic Pancreatic cancer when she was 17. In her mind all cancer = death.

So the regiment is 4 months of ABVD Chemotherapy every other Friday starting this Friday. Once that is finished up then I will go for radiation treatment to follow up.

In the meantime I've decided to take the 48hr fast before chemo approach to help shield my healthy cells from the chemo and hopefully recover faster from it's effects.

I'll try to get some pics from the chemo pit when I go. Tara has been with me every step of the way and it's helped calm my nerves.

Nah, I've been joking about it all week. Appearently, the last isotope they gave me for the MUGA has a 6hr half life so I told my wife not to go in the bathroom because I have radioactive piss.

I go to see Dr. Grapski @ 3:15 today. I'll let you know what he says as soon as I get back.

Try not to get too wrapped up in stages or statistics; I know it will be difficult to resist. Salt any numbers you hear with the fact that they've been collected over years, decades sometimes, while more and more advancements have been made. Your case is yours... take part in the fight and you will not regret it.

Just finished my PFT, MUGA, and Hemoglobin test.

From what info I could get from the techs everything looks good / excellent. They wouldn't give me a copy of the tests like the PET techs did but they did show me their results on the computer screen.

I am again, radioactive for the next 24hrs or so from the MUGA test.

Well, I have little experience with cancer, but my step dad recently beat prostate cancer. It sounds like you've found a good place to get top treatment. I know he thought that was the most important thing, and he traveled from Washington state to Florida four or five times for treatment.

My condolences man. If I were religious I'd pray for you, but you're in my thoughts.
