So I just found out I have cancer..

Good news guys.. Apparently the Hodgkin's hasn't affected my sperm yet so hopefully that's a sign that it is not that advanced.

According to the sample I gave today my sperm count was WAY above normal for a healthy 26 yr old.

I have my first PET scan tomorrow and I will know the exact stage of my condition on Tuesday of next week.

LOL.. they are so anal about radiation safety they would tell me that's not funny and then security would be interrogating me for hours just in spite. The good thing is that Y12 is full of home town type people who are willing to help others out in situations like this so I won't have to worry about loosing my job over missed time.

You never told me you went to Thompson Steve... What did they have you in for?

trust me, the port is much better than not having one. Your going to get stuck more times than you can count and that is a savior on the veins. Also you will get a card that will get you out of wearing a seatbelt. Again anytime you need or want to talk, hit me up!

Robert, I was treated at Thompson in 1998. Treatment was successful and yearly biopsies are required for verification. Thompson is a very good treatment center and we are fortunate to have it in our area. BTW, can't you get free radiation at work? LOL

Wow.. just wow..

Thanks everyone for the uplifting responses. I will chime in Monday with the prognosis from the Oncologist. I'm currently seeing Dr. Grapski at the Thompson Cancer Survival Center and from what I understand he's one of the best in the field for the type of cancer I have.

Yesterday my surgeon said they would probably fit me with a port to make administering chemo easier on me and I'm not really to thrilled about sporting that but I guess it's better than sprouting more tumors.

Robert, My thoughts and prayers are with you.. Even though my faith and practice aren't what they should be, I still know it works.

Treatments are sooo much better than in the past. Hang in there and keep a good attitude.
I think your persistence in seeking the tests was obviously right on. Keep that persistence with whatever your treatments turn out to be.

Both my Aunt and Uncle are cancer survivors, cancer treatment has come a long way over the years. You'll be fine, feel better.
