here's the problem with your viewpoint. America was not created to provide you better health, jobs, or better education etc. America was created to protect your right to ethically seek a better life for you and your family, which may or may not include better health, jobs, education etc. i will not presume to know what is best for you. my idea of a strong economy is one in which i work for everything i get and i am proud to do so. if i take out a loan that is stupid and risky and i default, i do not expect you to have to bail me out. if an earthquake levels my house or a bird shits on my car i do not expect you to clean it up either. if you want to help then that's fine, but i will not make you because i have no right to do so.

i don't support either parties because both expand the government. the only way anyone can get elected now is to promise you the voter a gift from the treasury. we (society) are the problem.

The only thing I have to add to your statements and Vedubin01's is that don't forget the laws that Bush inherited and the Democratically controlled House. Tax, environmental and regulatory law that has been in place a long time along with the comments above are what really drive any downturn that we are seeing.

To try and attribute this to Bush is like trying to blame the hurricane on the weatherman.

And if you do look at Obama's stance on gun control, he is looking to modify the constitution to do what he wants. He wants to give illegals driver's licenses because lack of ID is the problem? Excuse me? lol Wow, that's logic for you.

You are correct in what you say. I agree with the point on how people are brought up in other counties. I posted this to start debate and with debate comes knowledge. I hope people go out and research points of topic. Im not ramming anything down anyone, but allowing people a place to voice ideas and opinions.

Many don't take the time to truly know what they spew. Its not to point out their deficiencies or lack of knowing but to hope that people will try to back up with fact.



Not to take away from RobertK's misfortune but I am also dealing with a type of cancer. I have been now for I guess 7 years now. I do not have health insurance. I am what they call Un-insurable or high risk. I had Blue Cross and Blue Shield of FL once but they broke contract and told me to fight them if I wanted to. I tried and don't have the money they do to fight. This is not the governments/peoples fault or problem. ITs big business! I do not expect anyone to be liable for my debts either. You do not ever hear me whine about it. Its just the way life is. I deal with it every day and count on my family and close friends for support.

My medical debt is a staggering number. Well into the 6 figures. Im debt free other than medical.

Im a firm believer that big government is just a crutch for those that dont want to work. And those that are in power dont have to follow the rules they set for the ones under them. I feel that everyone stands on their own and comes together because the want to not because they have to.

They believe in Government assistance for most people that are poor. They believe that the federal government should have an active role in how we live our lives.

Most of all, I'm voting Democrat because I like the ideas they have over in France, but I don't feel like moving there. I'll threaten to move, but I really won't. After all, I have a good job, healthcare, lower taxes, free speech and a social framework that promotes family structure. And all of it is defended by the most effective fighting force on the planet.

Let me just point out that in most cultures across the world, children have a much closer relationship with their parents than in the the US. Children in most European cultures spend much more time per week with their parents, and they are subsequently much more likely to cite parents as their main influence, as opposed to American teens, which are more likely to cite their peers as the main influence in their actions.

This can be attributed to the spead-out American infrastructure, the comparatively high rate of teen car ownership, or America's individualistic culture.

well, if McCain gets the vote (which, in my opinion, is not the end of the world) all of your buddies will be in smug douchebag overdrive and making fun of me won't be as satisfying as you'd hope. I'm not a partisan windbag, and I personally view this election as one of the best in the history of the country.

But if Obama gets in, I'm sure Rush Limbaugh will be shitting his pants. I love listening to him. I always know what tune he'll be singing depending on what's happening in the world. If Bush has said something stupid again, he'll be complaining that the LIBRULS are always so whiny and negative. It's like birdsong, different depending on the time of day. If Obama as president is half as bad as the GOP likes to say it will be, I say bring it on. He's got a lot to prove, and I like that in someone we're supposed to call "leader."
