this has become bickering about small details.
Farbin, the statement that you feel sorry for us, is exactly why "we" don't like religious pricks. You can't belittle others, because you feel enlightened somehow. That is the reason why so many people are taking shots at religions.
the fact that christianity is bull shit is proven and documented, and it still remains the greatest scam in history. Lucky for Judaism, a whole lot of stuff was burnt, otherwise it would be right there with christianity. Every other major religion also falls short.
Faith is great, but it doesn't make you better than others, and it certainly doesn't make you more knowledgable.
Here's why I think bible is good for schools:
if it is bible study, and not passage study, kids would have a chance to read all the crazy shit that's in it. Any one taking geometry along with bible, will question bible. To me, the best way to get people off religion is to educate them on it.
Last time i went to church (southern babtist), they ran a video for teenagers, that said to abandon friends who make poor decisions. When we (teenagers) talked amongst ourselves, I was tearing my lungs out trying to prove that no one should ever abandon their friends in need. I was a lonely voice. I have never gone back there again, even though I initially liked the place for the way they explained different life situations.

I'm going to have to agree with this. Faith gives people stability. More stability = more reason to live and enjoy life.Alot of the more religious people I know aren't bible thumpers or radical in any way. They would fall into the category of "Life feels better/Is easier when you have something greater to believe and put your faith in." Not my cup of tea, But I can see where they are coming from, That is why I don't bash religion.
What I found interesting is the basis of Christian faith. The reason it truly took off is because Constantine deemed it the religion of Rome. This was unorthodox for a man like him, because he worshiped Apollo, the sun god. In truth, he was very careful never to expose his true beliefs, instead seeing the growing popularity of Christianity used it to win over the crowd of beaten Romans. This occurred at a time of corrupt (on the part of Constantine) as he wasn't even in line to become the emperor, in fact the was no emperor. The land was so vast, it was divided into the East and West each ruled by a Caesar and an assistant (like a vice-president), they were called the tetrarchs and were set up by Diocletian. Diocletian was the head of the West and retired from power setting Constantine's father as an assistant of the West. Things of course got hectic as soon as Diocletian left and they began fighting over power. Diocletian came out of retirement to bring back order, which did not work work because Constantine had already placed himself in power in the West. Because of all of the civil wars, Rome was looking to grappel on to something steadfast and unwavering, in this case Constantine. In essence Constantine took power after his father died, killing Maxentious, Caesar of the East, at the battle of the Milvian Bridge, where Constantine proclaimed the win was from god because he had his company paint the sign "chi ro" on the front of their shields. Chi Ro is the sign of Jesus. Thus, the vulnerable Rome was taken over by Constantine, who overthrew the tetrarchy and used Christianity as a marketing scheme to win over the minds of the Roman community so they would not overthrow him in return.

There is a lot of stuff the organized religous zelots have tried to hide/twist to their own desires.
I didn't even get into the fact that Jesus wasn't born near Christmas (dec. 25th), easter is a pagan solstice festival, Catholic Communion is a perverted concept of the truth.
In fact, did you know that the Catholic Church just applied the "can't beat 'em, join 'em" philosophy and twisted hundreds of Pagan rites into Catholic dogma to bring the "heathen" into the fold.
Easter Eggs are a pagan fertility token, as is the fertile rabbit. But we accept these concepts as part of the Easter holiday.
I'll come back and rant out some other stuff later...Leave a comment:

So I guess I'm not your typical Christian.
And I don't buy into any of that 10 Commandments bullshit... I sin more than all of you combined.
Interesting....I've never heard of Nephilim. Thanks for the link.Leave a comment:

In my belief, as founded by original Hebrew texts of the bible, and translations with todays resources, the bible stated that Adam and Eve were told by God that if they ate from the tree of good and evil they would die that day.
If the bible is a text from beginning to end that tells one story, then what is stated carries thru.
It is said that a day in the presence of God is like a thousand years.
Thus, if you eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you will die in one thousand years.
Moses and his ilk lived 900+ years, after the flood the bible stated the lifespan of man would be no more that one hundred and twenty years.
In what I believe, we were perfect at one time, but as punishments are, things were taken away from us. So we went from immortal life to no more than 120 years due to the mistakes of man fueled by the influence of Satan in his varied methods.
So, yeah, the design isn't getting better because we keep fucking shit up and not doing as told.Leave a comment:

See non-believers are as bad as fanatical Christian/religious nuts.
My Christian faith does not EVER use those assumptions, but, it does accept the "Gap Theory".
I know the planet is millions/billions of years old - PROVEN
I know I have seen fossils with my own eyes - PROVEN
I do believe that God has run the planet much as the Architect in the Matrix, many different cycles of life on this planet.
Other things twisted by religion...
Adam and Eve/Lilith
Apocryphal Books (14 books taken out of the bible by man-Cannon/Catholic decisions)
Gap Theory

What's not getting any better the design of the human body? I'm well aware of that. My point is that if everything was designed by an all knowing being it would work a lot better.
Why do salamanders that only live in caves and never see any light have eyes yet are blind? If they were designed for that why even have eyes? How about some snakes that have the remnants of limbs, if they were designed to have no legs why would they have remnants?
Why don't you prove to me that the earth is under 10,000 years, or that the dinosaurs never existed.Leave a comment:

I feel that some people need some type of faith in their lives. I do not, and because of that I choose to not partake in any religion. I also don't bash it, That is unless someone is trying to MAKE me believe in something. In that case I cant help but pick apart what a person is saying.
Should it be in school? Absolutely not.Leave a comment:

OMG this is getting retarded.
Bottom line - It's up to christians to prove the existence of God. It's not the atheist's responsibility to disprove something that can't be proven in the first place.
The study of religion belongs in school so long as it isn't biased and it is all inclusive.
Theory belongs in school. The omission of theories would slow down science to a crawl.
Farbin - as far as I know there is no proof of anything having to do with God. Sorry.Leave a comment:
