anyone speak fluent German??

ok so here's the deal. Long story short, I got in a really bad car accident in 2005 and realistically should have died. I already have one tattoo pertaining to the event in my life when I truly did get a second chance. I recently loaned a friend some money and instead of him paying me back(he has no money) he has a buddy that is a tattoo artist at a shop near my house, and this guy owes my buddy some tattoo time. SO... my friend is letting me have the time instead of taking it for himself since he owes me money.

The tattoo I would like to get will once again be pertaining to said event in my life. I would like the tattoo to read "My Life Is A Gift" but in German. I am of german decent hence my wanting it to be in German. I have gotten it translated using internet translators but I want to make sure, since this is perminant, that it is the correct spelling and word usage.

So can anyone translate "My Life Is A Gift" into German for me?

Using internet translators I have "Mein Leben Ist Ein Geschenk". Is this correct? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know if the gender is right but it seems right to me from the German I took in Highschool....if you want to make a pun you could use the word "Gift" in the German version since I think that means poison in Deutsch, or maybe it was another word....I think it is gift though. Teachers tell you a lot of stupid stuff like that in German class thinking it is cute.

that is the correct way to write it and all. I speak german everyday here in germany, so I had to ask m daughter if it sounded correct, and she said yes, -- alot of things you really cant translate, but she said it works ok.

I honestly never understood why anyone would want a tatoo in another language-esp. if they dont speak it/ or it isnt from their background- but it is your thing i guess. I live/eat/sleep/work/speak in german for the past 14 years and still would never want any German word on my skin.

see thats the reason I want to do this, I am German so it is in my background. I also like getting a tattoo that will start a story. If someone doesn't speak German they will ask me what it means. Then they will ask why I got it, which starts the story. So there really is meaning to it. Its not just some random tattoo that has no menaing
