I find the the AP, Reuters, and wiki have surprisingly been the best sources for me. Some of the video's show some really down and dirty exchanges, though most just show the aftermath.

According to the NYT, McCain wants to return to the Cold War days.

Not exactly a reliable source for news. Anyone else running that story?

            They quoted McCain.

            Is that still considered "unreliable"?

            Timesonline UK.com:

If John McCain is elected, it is highly likely that the US will take a much more aggressive line with Russia. Sen McCain has always been highly critical of Mr Putin, even suggesting Russia should be expelled from the G8. Among his most senior campaign staff have been some of Russia’s fiercest US critics, including Randy Scheunemann, his chief foreign policy adviser, who has worked in Washington over the last few years on behalf of some of the former Soviet states who have been most intimidated by Russia.

Yesterday Mr McCain launched his most aggressive verbal assault yet on Moscow, calling for the US to offer humanitarian assistance to Georgia and saying Moscow should be brought before the “court of world public opinion”.

My reason for being critical is the NY Times have gotten a story wrong plenty of times. They don't always run a correction either....if they do, its buried in the classifieds somewhere.

I don't see a quote in there other than 5 words that have been used by everyone in the world. Though it is true that McCain is anti-Russian so I wouldn't doubt it. But then again the Russians are trying to return to the cold war so why shouldn't we? It is good for my job prospects as well.

What do you expect from Lair, while I havent's been here long his logic works like this.

Being 47 makes him more versed in Macro-economics than someone that has a degree in economics.

Having bought 40-50 sets of tires makes him better at setting proper tire pressures than the manufacture of the car and tires that he has purchased.

Now we have 2 paragraphs of an opinion piece with 5 words in quotes and it's official McCain policy.

McCain's stance on Russia is well-documented. Check around before you start denying it.

And it's "70 or 80" sets of tires.

I haven't seen any degrees in economics posted from the r3v econ braintrust, either.

John McCrazy steps up the anti-Russia rhetoric, speaks for "all Americans":

                            1 hour, 26 minutes ago

YORK, Pa. - Republican presidential candidate John McCain phoned Georgia's president Tuesday to tell him all Americans back his country's efforts to thwart military attacks from Russia.

McCain told more than 2,000 voters in York, Pa., that he spoke Tuesday morning with Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili to make sure he knows "that the thoughts, prayers and support of the American people are with that great little nation as it struggles today" for independence.

"I told him that I know I speak for every American when I said to him, today, we are all Georgians," McCain said to loud applause. He said Saakashvili asked him to express his thanks to Americans.

McCain said Moscow is using "violence against Georgia to send a signal" to "any country that chooses to associate with the West." Russian leaders, he said, must realize they risk "the benefits they enjoy from being part of the civilized world."

Both McCain and his Democratic opponent, Barack Obama, have called for a multi-pronged diplomatic approach to pressure Russia to withdraw from Georgia, a former republic of the Soviet Union. Georgia has been trying to keep the pro-Moscow province of South Ossetia from breaking away.

Obama, who is vacationing in Hawaii, said in a statement Tuesday: "Now is the time for action not just words. It is past time for the Russian government to immediately sign and implement a cease-fire. Russia must halt its violation of Georgian airspace and withdraw its ground forces from Georgia, with international monitors to verify that these obligations are met."

I think if the media keeps up their anti-Russian fervor he will speak for "All Americans" soon. And how do you know he wasn't talking about the 82nd Airborne "All Americans"? I am sure they would love the thwart some Russkie attacks.

Jokes aside, all of our politicians are being crazy right now. Rice is spreading information that was confidential and is spreading a incomplete or wrong version of it, George Bush is being told that information and making speeches on it, John McCain wants to confront them, and Barack wants Russia to "talk", all of it is crazy talk!

Everyone knows you deal with another superpower by proxy war, its the only way to get things done.
