Parents do need to talk to their kids more about these things. That in conjunction with what's taught in schools might just be enough to hammer the point in.

I just remembered something funny/pathetic. In order to get my associates degree from CC, I had to take a general health course. When we got to the sex ed part, the instructor went around the room asking different questions about the topic. When someone didn't answer right he'd ask the same question to the next person. Well he had to go through 5 or 6 girls until he got the correct answer to the question, "How many ovaries do you have?" I live in LA, it's not hard to guess what nationality they were..
