s50=heavy but there are quite a few 2.5 liter s14 beasts running around and even with an m20 you cant keep the rear planted... and then there's the turbo m20 car in florida that eats diffs for lunch.

never got around to the 5spd swap. then the motor blew and i didn't have the cash flow to get it up and running again... I had to let it go for $400... :( :( :(

To get an S50/M50 in a deuce your going to have to move the motor back, there is pretty much no way around it. Once a good chunk of that weight moves back behind the front axle the problem isn't nearly as bad. Then boost the shit out it.:p

914's suck to work on and are slow as Christmas without a six.

My POS VW Ghia would wax any stock 4 cylinder 914.

Well no shit, a modded Ghia would wax a stock 914. Your just full of revelations aren't ya.

They are actually very easy to work on, the only downside was the cost of building a good type 4 motor compared to a type 1 aircooled.

That's just a waste. The car will be too front heavy to deal with that type of added power and that will eat into the fun factor as well.

I will build an aluminum blocked twin cam 02 with the motor set back so its balanced. you still wont like it so i will paint a mans anus on the hood and put a cock n balls hood ornament on it to make you fall in love with it

                          Ask me how I know... I built a 2270cc T4 that went into a 63 Bug with a T1 conversion fan. After that, I dropped it into a 74 914. I'm sorry, but a stock 914 (even 4 cyl) will kick a ghia's ass any day.

But yes, the build cost of a properly prepared T4 motor is $$$$$.

My particular Ghia had a 2110 with stainless rods, an Engle 110 cam, 10 lb chromoly flywheel, Cima 90.5's and dual Dellorto 45's with a freeway flyer close ratio trans.

No stock 914 could touch it.

                                Finished that off for you.

I have had a ton of aircooled VW's. 15 at least, bugs, busses, a 70 ghia. They handle like shit. 914's are amazing handling cars from the factory.
