      How about this?

New track in NW Indiana. It's bigger than mid-Ohio.

Huge thing we have that Europeans do not is liability.

You'd have to sign so many waivers and have so many safety inspection that an American Ring would probably cost like 800 bucks a lap. It is an awesome thought. And I would love it, but it just wont happen.

You guys are missing the point.
What you want is an EPIC drive. We all have our own "ring" near us that we frequent.

I have found at least one good one every place I've been, and you guys show me new ones from time to time.

Here's the thing about an EPIC drive/great twisty, etc. YOU have to enjoy it, share it with a few choice souls, but otherwise, STFU!
            Example: Tail of the Dragon
every ricer in the world goes there, drives like idiots, and screws it up for everyone else.

p.s. The Ring is awesome. (5 laps. Please, no autographs) No duplication is possible. Hell, it changes from year to year anyways. Ask Sabine.

Our country would find some way to dork it up, it's better that there is one Nurburgring.

i thought the 'ring is classified as a normal road. one with no speed limits? or am i thinking of a track i heard of in australia? if that were the case and it is a "normal" road, then liability is right out the window.

The Blunt Tech proving grounds runs thru 7.8 miles of challenging terrain with sweeping turns and tight hairpins running thru wayzata, orono and plymouth. location is top secret but it is in THE HC and mere blocks from the garage mahal. if youre ever in THE HC i suggest you look me up, sign the waiver and give it a shot.

Well, it would need tight banks, and apex corners - :)

I hear that Summit Point in West Virginia has a new addition called the Mini Ring. Try searching that....

There is a motorsport park being built in south Alabama by Dale Earnhart Jr. that will include a 7/10 mile oval and a 2.6 mile road course along with a karting track. Might not be what you are looking or hoping for. IIRC the price tag on this complex was $600+ million just to give you an idea on the cost of such a project.

                                HERE

I think the "RING" would only work best where it is. The car enthusiast here in the states would not be able to support the cost needed to open or run such a facility like they do in Germany. Along with that the biggest draw for the "RING" is the history the place has had since it was built. You just can not recreate a historical place just for people to come a drive their cars on without having some sort of other racing events throughout the year to pay its bills.

Like your idea but IMHO it is wishful thinking...

                                ;)
