    remember when...

It's 9/11. Please take a break from the normal day-to-day pace of life, and the political bickering on this board, for a few minutes and reflect on what occurred 7 years ago, the men who did it, what they were trying to accomplish, and the response of an entire nation the way few countries have responded in tough times. In a manner not seen since the Japanese attack to start us (officially) into WWII, the country rallied together to heal itself, to help those that were affected, and an entirely new class of unsung heroes was revealed in the fire and police forces of NYC and in average people across the nation.

And, thank God/Allah/Science that we only have one tragic day to remember in the years since. Whether you agree with national foreign policy or not, there's a lot of people who volunteered to go and do what they can to ensure it stays that way, and be ready to react when it happens again.

(please keep political bickering out of this thread. There's enough other threads to do it in, keep this thread clean out of respect for the turning point in our nation's recent history)

Yea I remember exactly where I was when it happened. I guess it is kinda like Pearl Harbor of our generation or something like the JFK assaination, just something that everyone will remember that day forever.

Does anyone have the picture of NYFD commandeering the blue E38 and driving it towards the towers? I saw it once in a 9/11 museum and was going to buy a print and never did, now I regret it cause I can't find it anywhere.

that's pretty tasteless Pasha. It's one thing to be an instigator, but that doesn't do any good in general.

Certainly a day to remember, and I will never forget being woken up and told to come watch the TV and see what was happening. I came into the room right as the second tower was hit. Serious stuff.

Im sure the same Germans think Hitler was doing the Jews a favor. Not really called for.... many died for no reason at all!

Just know he did it to elicit a reaction. Nothing else needs to be said about that post.

                  Wow that's tasteless Pasha...

I can remember what I was doing when it happened also. Remember waking up and thought it was a joke at first on the local rock station but then turned on the news and sadly it wasn't.

I was at school when the second plane hit, the whole class was gathered around the TV watching it live. I remember this worried kid we had in our class announcing that if a war started because of what was happening at that minute, he would "jump out that [points] window."

I still always wonder if he remembers saying that..

Hopefully this thread won't end up where most political/religious/non-E30 ones do.

It was about this time seven years ago when it happened, but it's felt a lot longer than that. I was in seventh grade math class when it occured, and it still scares the bejeezus out of me to know that the same thing could just as easily happen again.

Alright everyone even if you don't believe that terrorists were behind 9/11, like me, or if you do think terrorists were behind it, it does not matter. Either way more than 2,000 people lost their lives that day. So please keep the arguments for another day, and just try to remember all the brave men and women who died not only at the world trade center but as well as the Pentagon, and flight 93.

                            that is all.
