We even got the fringe of the remnants way up here in Western NY overnight. Peak gust was 58mph, downed quite a few trees in the area and I guess 45k people are without power (we lost it last night but we're already back on). The umbrella from my deck is nowhere to be found this morning. Barely got any rain from it though.

Actually, they are now saying the winds were 78mph here. Power was out to 90% of the customers in the SW Ohio/N. KY/SE Indiana area around Cincinnati. Still out at my house. I am at work now.

Sounds like its time to pack up and get out of town for a while.

They are publicly saying up to a week for everyone here to be back on line. But i assume that means most sooner than that, the longer times will be for the smaller clusters in rural areas.

Problem is, they sent over half of their crews to LA and TX to do contract work there. So now they are sending up crews from the Carolinas to fix us here. :loco:

the texas city refinery is shut down. that's a BIG DEAL. the cost of oil has nothing to do with it, because it has to go through a refinery to turn into the gasoline at your pump. if the refinery is shut down, that means the supply of gas is lower than it was before. it doesn't mean squat to have "cheap" oil if there are less refineries to turn it into gas.

yeah, but when AAA is reporting an average hike of $.07, and we have had closer to >50 in the past couple of days, you know that someone is exploiting the issue a little. Not entirely, but a little.

I was reading that today. Even here in FL we're seeing some exploiting. But amazingly enough some gas stations arent "suffering" as much, since their prices remained the similar.

Haha, the gas station across the street from my work jacked it up 20 cents/gallon. Though they are the slowest to drop it down from a lull in gasoline pricing, they're the first to hike it up. :roll:

Except for some of the ridiculous gouging, 95% of what you see on the pricing BS is NOT the local stations, but the oil companies themselves. They dictate the pricing to most local dealers. Ask anyone who owns a station about PMPA and you will get some idea of what I mean.

oh god, please provide proof of price gouging - you can't, because it doesn't exist. you're just upset because a scarce commodity that everyone wants and needs costs money.

nah, I'm acclimated to the high price of gas. I was expecting $4/gallon years ago. right now I'm just happy it costs less than $60 to fill my tank. ;)

plus it's nearly $6 a gallon for regular in canada - we don't have it so bad here.

they should fine the government for cashing in too then - because they are just taking advantage of a situation to increase taxes on business. :roll:
