Well it would need to be a more diplomatic annexation not just a heavy handed takeover. It has happened before. Texas was an independent country until they basically asked us to annex them.

I am going to stop talking about this though before I make myself sound like an idiot. I don't know a ton about the subject but I personally think it would work and be a good thing in the end.

          ^^ Thank You for that.

That man Ron Paul was who should be one of our presidential candidates. He knows more about our monetary system and has been fighting for fiscal responsibility and constitutional responsibility for 30+ years.

And yet, the media flushed him down the toilet right away. And thats the big shame. When I vote this year I will be writing in his name.

did you guys get this in a chain-letter email or something?

seriously, you wonder why this place is screwed up - everyone wants to blame our problems on a stupid conspiracy or evil corporations instead of their own dumb actions. Our government is obviously incompetent, do you really think a government responsible for such wonderfully sucessful schemes like social security, medicare, the war in iraq and other nonsense is capable of running a super secret scheme to crush our economy behind our backs? really?

The economy went downhill when one day it was "unfair" and "discriminatory" for poor people to be ineligible for home loans.

Hey, you don't have an extra one do you? Since Peerless the E30tech refugee starting posting here more often I've felt a greater and greater need for one. I swear he gets all his news from his email and never bothers to cross-verify anything before posting it. (His post of the photoshopped Palins is an excellent example.) If you've got one PM me an asking price and your PP account. Thanks.

I dont think the Government does anything behind our backs. They are blatent with every move they make and they rub it in our faces. How can we blame ourselves for the bailouts of large failing corporations?

Our country is fucked up because of our flawed monetary system, and excessive debt.

it sucks that we have to pay for the screw ups of big banks, but letting them fail (especially that large insurance company a couple days ago) would be much worse.

Our country is fucked up because of our flawed monetary system, and excessive debt.
or people who took on too much risk and jumped on the housing market bandwagon "because real estate never goes bad"? right?

a similar scenario played out during the dot-com bust - the only difference was, it wasn't tied to anything "real", and there wasn't debt repackaged as securities to poison the financial system like it has now.

not to say reforms are neccesary - it's pretty obvious that mortage lending standards were far too lenient. But maybe we could reach a deal where the government gains a new power of regulation if they are willing to give up something else...

There is a plot to ruin the US economy. It's called Obama's Economic Plan.
