I'm no political guru either, but it just sounds like a bunch of lofty propositions and reformation proposals. He'll bring up one seemingly great idea and then receive a lot of applause. "We're going to do this..." and "We're going to do that..." it all sounds so great, but the last time I heard these ambitious remarks it sounded a little something like this. 42 days before the election, I'm beginning to be a bit unsure of who I'll be voting for.

It just doesn't make any sense. What would be the right thing to say? I'm going to do nothing? I guess that's more realistic. Whether or not he'll do these things - I like the way he thinks."We praise or find fault, depending on which of the two provides more opportunity for our powers of judgement to shine."

One more strike against the Obama campaign for (quite possibly) the most ridiculous ad in the entire campaign.
Sen. John McCain took heat yesterday from UAW president Ron Gettelfinger for three of his thirteen vehicles being foreign-made. Now McCain's taking heat from the Obama campaign in a new attack ad so heavily protectionism-flavored, it's a good thing the ad's just running in the Great Lakes state. Yes, Michigan, a land that unlike the rest of the nation, remains a magical place where American cars still outsell foreign cars. While the overtones of protectionism are strong, the nuts n' bolts of the

the ad never said anything was WRONG with owning foreign cars it was simply outlining one of Mccain's famous straight-talk flip flops. The ad itself was weak also, but a strike against his campaign? Listen, every politician gets to office for the first time by promising to change washington. I have been watching this for 7 presidential campaigns and countless congressional campaigns. They may even have good intentions, but once they actually get there and find out that they can't do shit, then reality sets in. To do anything at all, they have to start playing party politics and getting the "special interest" (which is political shorthand for just about any group in America which many of you probably are associated with one way or another) money.
Obama has no idea that he can't do any of the stuff he says he wants to do. Or, even worse, (and this is my opinion), he knows he can't do any of that stuff but says it anyway just to get elected.
The worse thing about Obama is if he really does get any of the stuff he is endorsing done for real. Brrrrr, what a thought.
Obama is a great public speaker... just like Clinton was. When you put Obama on the spot and get him off his prearranged cue cards, he rambles and mumbles like an idiot. He is just as corrupt, just as bigoted, just as arrogant as any other politician on capital hill. Don't forget that. He won't give you what he is promising to give you.
Don't be fooled by a great orator. Great orator does not equal great thinker. Maybe it did in Lincoln's time because he wrote his own stuff. Nobody does that anymore.
Regan was a big surprise. He got elected on name recognition and he was smooth in front of the camera (go figure). But he turned out to be a big thinker, a strong and compassionate leader, and set a course that (in my opinion) ultimately helped the country.
Obama talks a pretty picture. But he simply is not like Regan. I don't believe Obama can or will lead effectively, and I don't believe he will have the fortitude or the savvy to get any of his plan acted on.
Did I watch the whole thing... no. Honestly, I couldn't get past the first few minutes. He doens't have a plan. He just has talk. He has no idea how these things will get done, and no idea of the impact to this nation if they do get done. He isn't thinking about us. He is thinking about him and his glory and his narrow minded goals.1987 E30 325is

here's my thoughts as I listen to it (video is paused to write this, and it will be for subsequent bulletin posts)
1. He has no power to follow through with what he's promising. That's not how Washington works- without the "revolving door" he'd have no staffers. And, he really can't exert any control over what people do after leaving his administration.
2. There's no way he will ever be able to uncover/expose the inner workings of Congress. For one, much of it is not public matter (defense, foreign policy, etc.) and two, does he really think America will watch to see what the government does? The vast majority of people have no idea what goes on even through the channels now available. (how many ratings does C-SPAN get?)
3. I don't think he fully understands the magnitude of what "every" means.. he'd need an entirely new branch of government to oversee his promise to put every bill, pork-barrel project, and "corporation that benefits from a tax break" online, so 5 people a day could look at it. Also, does anyone else see how skewed it could possibly become?
4. he just blamed katrina, food poisoning, and toy safety issues on the government; he wants to reduce waste with government programs. The next sentence he talks about fixing medicare "so everyone has health care" and investing to "free ourselves of foreign oil", but "it will all cost some money".
5. War comments: not gonna touch it.
my internet just died and I'm exhausted from my emergency procedures simulator event, and studying for tomorrow's so I'm gonna stop there. But my overall impression is similar to Hallen's: Obama either has no idea the scope, power, and limits of the office he's running for, or he knows very well and will say anything to gain support from people that don't listen to what the message is behind the words he speaks.sigpic89 M3
