I want to know what you political gurus think of this video

I don't agree with his ideas regarding medicaid and medicare - but the rest sounds very very good to me. I'm no political guru so I don't know what to make of parts of it. Opinions?

I'd like for this to be an open ended, non biased, fact based discussion with no name calling or holier than thou attitudes.

Thanks for the brainless input. It must have taken all of a 2nd grade education to think of that insightful post.

Interesting video - here's my take on it.

What is frustrating to me about modern day politics is that both prominent parties (the Ds and the Rs) are guilty of campaigning where their messages and promises to swoon voters often fall flat on their face once they've been sworn into office. We voters are largely to blame for this - we fail do to a more in-depth study and analysis of the candidates to learn about their past services in public office, who is supporting them idiologically and financially. I know many people who are marching lock-step with their party of choice and plan to vote for their candidate simply because of which side of the political aisle they reside on. This blind allegiance is what has resulted in the low opinion polls of Congress or the President. You often hear people say, "I can't stand politicians...they're all corrupt, we need to vote them out. Except my representative - they're doing a great job." That kind of mindset seems to be everywhere so it's no wonder we are immersed in the politics as usual culture. To see any real change with the political landscape we have to get off our collective butts and get more involved with the process. Until such a paradigm shift happens, it will be business as usual and both current and aspiring politicians know this.

Now having said that, I read an article on line yesterday (if I can find it I'll edit this post), that statistically speaking for many elections in the past, when our country has been facing economic hardships during an election year, the forthcoming occupant to the White House is aligned with a different party compared to the current occupant. In other words (again, based on the stats), we have a Republican president now. The next one is likely to be a Democrat. I've gone on record saying that I will be supporting McCain come election day but its a decision I'm not completely comfortable with. Both candidates have the best of intentions - they want to do good things for the country and get us back on the right track - but I'm not totally ga-ga about everything each one is saying. I guess in my opinion I feel I can stomach McCain more than Obama. I'll be keeping the Mylanta handy.

I understand that most people's problem with obama is they don't trust him. Again, most politicians don't seem to be trustworthy.

I feel there are not enough candidates, As lame as it is to say, we should elect like American Idol, Get ten or fifteen candidates ready to go, put them on TV every week for six months, and slowly knock off the worst one each time til we get to the best. Make a stupid comment during a Debate, GONE. Fail at a solution to a deficit, GONE. Disrespect your core voters, GONE.

Instead, we have two guys and everyone is running around trying to pick the worst of two evils.

                      UTTER HONESTY POST

Two min in, and if this was a whistle stop back (Speaking in a field off the caboose) in the 1930's and I had no idea about everything else, he'd have my vote...

vote for the worst would make it so much more fun. lol

Before you know we'll have a "she bangs" guy in the white house. Yes, we do have enough sinister assholes in United States to make that happen.

All I have to say is this: it doesn't matter what any candidate says, take their votes in congress, put them side by side and see which candidate supports your way of thinking. Neither one will 100% right by you, as a matter of fact doubt either one will score more than 60% on your high expectation chart. I am very tired of listening to all of them talk.

My personal take, I like McCain. I liked him 8 years ago, and he learned brutal truth of politics. Obama is running a similar campaign to what I saw Bush run then. I do not like Obama work ethics.

Obama was elected by Illinois to the senate with promises of bringing people to Washington. He voted "present" more than "yup" and "nay" combined. He didn't take his responsibility as a senator seriously, and now attacks McCain on those same votes.

I don't care what you thought about war 6 years ago (i didn't know doughnuts were fried then), because unless he has a time machine, he needs to get to grips with reality today. Democratic congress, thanks to Obama, failed to deliver everything that Reed and Polosi promised to deliver (they somehow missed some votes).

I recently lost respect for Biden, too. I followed Biden closely, and in the primaries he had my vote. He is the most outspoken candidate. He is the most experienced candidate. But you can't revoke your statements. I expected him to be a man, and decline Obamas VP candidacy. One more slap in my face to remind me that politicians are two-headed snakes.
