    Something everyone must see...

Maybe a repost, maybe not, but it's something everyone should see. Something to think about if you have an early model without airbags, jk.

    ~14min.

    Repost. Very sad.

Yup, possibly a double repost actually. Not that late model airbags would protect the driver much better. I've never been hit by one, but it sounds like us early model/non-airbag guys may have it better.

I was thinking that as the guy went running acroos the track and got whacked. One min, your on the track, a sec later and fade to black.

Yeah racing in general back in the day used to be pretty brutal. There was something about it on Nat Geo a while ago, I think the stats used to be like 1 in 4 racers would die in a crash.

Everything is MUCH better these days. I mean you can still die easy, but its leaps and bounds better than those early videos.

well I'm not sure it was his teammate, but he looked pretty beat up over it, so I figured they were close.

notice how the fire extingusher did almost nothing?

Seeing that makes you really appreciate all the safety improvements that have been made in the last decade alone. F1 is still a very dangerous sport, but I look at the wreck Kubica had in Canada last year and the guy only suffered some bruises and a spranged ankle....and within a month he was back racing.
