funny thing is these places dont even care to look into what is in the car wash....we, at griots, tried to explain to them that our car wash actually helps the storm drains break up all the crap that clogs them etc and they basically said screw you. rofl
It is not a ban on washing in your driveway its a ban on using storm drains for runoff. I say good and here is why. The Hood Canal, for example, used to be packed with fish but because of toxic runoff it is now a practical dead zone. The Puget Sound is becoming the same way. You can say what you want but we cant just continue destroying natural environments until there are none left. You also better get used to laws like this because there is only going to be more and more environmental legislation in the coming years. I am proud of my state for being one of the greenest in the nation.
This has been a topic of discussion on the local BMWCCA board for a little while, they bring up a lot of good points. Mainly that washing cars contributes to such small amount of pollution that it's retarded to fight for this, there are so many other things that pollute way more that is ignored.
I still say, if you really want to help the environment, put some damn trains in, you can run them purely off electricity and magnets, and they can transport tons of people. But we wouldn't want to actually spend money to solve the problem now would we...

There are bigger fish to fry, hahaha. But seriously, you think that car wash is toxic and is the cause of killing the fish? And if you argue that all the stuff you clean off is....it is getting there anyways and 90% of it came from the streets that those storm drains are on. There are better plans of action than stopping us from washing our cars.
You attack car washing and those that generally care for and upkeep their cars instead of looking at the hobbling 80s F150 that is sputtering and backfiring in front of me as it pours out a quart of oil when it stops.
Damn. This bylaw sounds pretty much like a public relation hack job to try to make the citizens think that the State is concerned by environmental issues.
All the shit off the street's pavement (oils, rubber etc) going to the sewers after rain. all the stuff from your bath, shower and even urines (women have so much ostrogen from taking pills that some rivers see alarming percentage of fishes turning female, not kidding). And what about all the industries?
No really. That's just another PR job. Just the same as the Terrorist list at airport or the screening before embarking a plane. Just PR to make "us" feel safer.
