It'll be the best thing you ever bought.

I love sitting on a short stool working under the car rather than laying on your back.

I think you are right as well. This one even doesn't have to be bolted to the floor, or so they say.

What brand do you have? I just cleaned the garage out a bit to get ready for it.

Nice man, once you use a lift, not having one is very depressing. Its like getting an impact and an air compressor, no idea how you lived before lol.

Shit I have no idea, we bought two of them at a gov auction for 1000$, sold one for 1500$. Is all I know is it works.:D

I went and looked at the craigslist add you posted, it looks identical to ours. Bolt the thing down anyway, you'd hate to drop a car on your head.

Bolt it down!! Seriously do it.

I'd love to have one of these. Did you talk him down in price at all?

Well, posterity, you will never know what it cost us to preserve your freedom. I only hope that you will make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that I ever took half the pains to preserve it.

                Bolt it down!!!

Get some concrete drop in anchors. The pad in your garage should be at least 6" deep. Grab some 1/2" anchors, drop them in and you're good.

                  NICE!

When I buy a house, my brother-in-law and I are going to go in on one together.

i have a 4in thick pad and it was enough, i would have a pro install it, i did and it was well worth the 300 bucks and piece of mind, not to mention it included the anchor bolts and the drilling, i would have had to buy a drill bit and rent a hammer drill, those lag bolts are about 10 each.

                        Agreed.

I found one for $800 from the dude i bought my compressor from cause the guy was closing shop and moving apparently. No room for it though :( My dads buddy bought it though so i guess i can use it when i want to.

Congrats on your newly acquired toy. Im sure youll have a ton of fun with it.

IIRC you can get them for a bit over $2k-2.5k new delivered. Me and two other guys installed one in a two car garage. The home inspector had checked the pad to be about 6 inches. Do your self a favor and get an impact drill (rent it).

                          How tall is your ceiling?

One thing you want to be very careful about is placing the arms in the right spot under the car. You can also get the tires 5 to 6 inches off the ground and then throw your weight at the car a bit to make sure it solid. Once it up off the ground, aways look under and check the pads again. Then again once it up in the air.

I know some of you pro's that lift 10-20 cars a day at work think nothing of it after a while, but if you don't know what your doing...super bad things can happen.

Just think of that car lift like a loaded gun, and respect it the same and you'll be ok.

Oh, and if you get a tranny jack - don't leave it under the car when you are lowering it. A local dealership did that to a brand new flagship Audi. The tech turned around from cleaning his tools just in time to see it hanging sideways, slip, and fall on it's side. Not a good day for that tech.

he lifted a 6300lb truck without it bolted down? hopefully he isnt the one installing it, he trusts the machine waaaay too much to care about your safety below it.
