Well I got the lift.....the guy dropped it off at around 9pm.
I got it in the garage which was an adventure in it self.
Now as I am able to look it all over I am finding some issues with it. I got to excited and shouldn't have bought it. But now I have and need to make a decision...
So the way this works is with one hydro ram and then a set of cables lift up the other side. There are locks on side with the hydro ram and no "parking" locks on the other post. there is a safety lock that kicks in if either of the cables would break or go loose.
Next...it is really rusty. The base that the cables run through is flaking metal off it.
One of the cables looks like it broke and was fixed or replaced with a non stock cable. There are some new cable clamps used to hold it together.
One of the pulleys is very corroded and the cable could almost pop off if it came slack at all.
It uses 4 steel rollers on each carrier around each post and 2 of the 4 on each post are not rolling at all. I think I can fix this tho.
So I paid $1200 +100 to get it to me. I could have bought a brand new one for 1800....and not sure why I didn't at this point.
I can fix the things that are wrong for around $300 or so. Other than the amount of rust and the odd lock system.
So what to do...
A) leave it as it is and use it
B) replace the cables and use it
C) resell and take a loss
D) cut it up for scrap.....and take a HUGE loss
I have already emailed the seller, asking for money back (also opened a dispute in paypal for the 200 I sent him through there) and even asked to take the entire thing back.www.classicdaily.net

I would replace the cables if they have been rigged.
