It's one of the many reasons why I shoot a 9mm. It's the most popular caliber in the world and ammo is plentiful and inexpensive.

The .45 guys always like to talk about "stopping power" and how ineffective a 9mm is compared to a .45

BS - Double tap to center mass and it's over.

Even a well-placed single shot from a .22 will ruin someones day.

A .45 is expensive to shoot due to the cost of ammunition, and if you don't practice, that big gun is useless.

A 9mm is inexpensive to shoot and people tend to spend more time at the shooting range and go more often when it isn't so costly and thus become more proficient with the firearm.

.45's are expensive, the ammunition is expensive and it takes more practice to become proficient with it which is as mentioned, expensive.

I use Wolf and S&B at the range, but keep my Beretta 92FS loaded with either Cor-Bon +P ammo, or Hydrashoks.

The Wolf and the S&B ammo costs about 5 cents a round when buying 500 rounds or more in 9mm

.45 ACP Wolf and/or S&B ammo costs about 5x as much.

And I've put thousands of rounds of that cheap Wolf and S&B ammo thru my 92FS without a single issue. Not one. Ever.

And I have 15 rounds ready to go, and 1 in the pipe.

Compare that capacity to a .45

Like I said, when it hits the fan, mags tend to empty quickly.

Those first couple of shots, especially in the dark will cause temporary night blindness and that loud .45 will temporarily deafen the shooter if they are without hearing protection.

Two or three rounds expended, blind and deaf and only a few rounds left in the mag is not a good situation to be in.

I always laugh at the mob movies when a car full of mobsters shoot one of their own for whatever reason in the car, windows up, confined space, then afterwards carry on a normal conversation.

In that environment, their ears would be ringing and all they would be saying is "What?" and "Huh?" for a quite a while.

But 9mm ammo will always be plentiful as it is the most popular round in the world.

And I have a about 2500 rounds on of the Wolf and/or S&B on hand, 100 rounds of Hydrashoks and another 100 rounds of Cor-Bons on hand, so I don't think I'll run out anytime soon.

sorry, but whatever you decide to carry or shoot it out with will leave your ears ringing.....unless your shoot'n a rimfire of course. Who has ear plugs in their pocket along with their carry weapon ?? Not many. 45, 9mm, 357/38, will put you in the eyesight mode after the first round esp in closed quarters. Hope it never happens, but you gotta do what you gotta do when the shit goes down !
