Might end up getting a small bike/scooter

So i want to hea what peopl think as far as recomnedations.

    Criteria: Price!

And keep in mind a young male makes insurance cost a big factor.

I'd love something european, but i dont think anything will fit the budget.

Ninja 250r. If you can find one

Costs very similar to scooter (most are $1500-$5000).

Looks like a real supersport, has 17inch wheel for bumps etc, and would be a good learner for riding.

Thats what I want now atleast. Once I get my car sold I may go put a deposit down on 2009 model, rest are sold out.
My e30 and e28 are both up for sale::

A 250 shoudnt be too bad on insurance or gas, I'll look at those. I'd imagine theres some stuff you can do to them, which could be fun.

Yea i looked at insurance for myself (young, male) and it was actually pretty damn cheap. I think it was $250 per year. Compare that to a honda cbr600 from 2004, which was $890, and a 2007 GSX-r 600rr was like $950, absolutely basic coverage, same for all bikes, including my suspended license for failure to pay/appear/give a fuck.

It should get 50mpg on average. The bike mag i have showed it as the worst of a group of four 250cc, but since when is 50-65mpg bad?

You could also get a rebel, if thats more your style. I'd stay away from scooters. The big cheap Chinese and Korean ones with CVT drive nice and can do 80mph, but look like shiot. The Vespas and Vespa wannabes have decent styling, but that means small wheels, and they usually have a larger price tag. Just look at the Vespa site, like 4k-8k.

I actually have a Stella (vespa look-a-like) in my garage thats fitting for a hipster. Its got 4 speeds, but even with the carb, jets, and exhaust that my bro put on, is still considerably slower than a friends Kymco POS.

        Go ninja

those kits tend to be a pita. i wouldn't go for anything less than 600cc if you plan to do any kind of highway/hilly riding. cbr600rr would definitely be on my list. actually, it is on the "next summer" vehicle list right now, as is a sailboat. what is young male? i'm 26 and my insurance rates are pretty reasonable, like 80 bucks for 6 months on my bmw. the S4 is a different story, more like 600 bucks for 6 months.:(

Yep - as said above - small cc.

You do know what the ER nurses call motorcycle riders right? They nick-name them "organ donors" when they come in as meat.

yeah, you just need to be really aware of drivers around you. if someone doesn't see you in a car, you get a fender bender. if someone doesn't see you on a bike you get...well, you get fucked up, basically.

Yeah, i definately have heard that haha. I'd spend some time looking for the less busy roads to get where i usually go. Suprisingly, traffic really isnt as busy as one would expect here.

And also i played around with insurance, it seems like the small bikes really arent that expensive. Supposedly bare bones insurance would only be like 130 or so. Although, i probably wouldnt do that.

As far as big bikes, this is more for city and backroads, freeway shouldnt be a big issue.. And i feel like 600ccs would be expensive.

Just for shits and giggles the ninja is around 140 to insura, with the same policy, a 1200cc ducati or something would be like 1100. So it gets steep quickly.

                        Also, two more things:

I wont be ditching the e30 for this.

as far as style, im a sucker for things like the ducati monster, and sport bikes.

I do like more old school bikes too, but not choppers, more so older style european bikes

I just picked up an 08 CBR600rr and I must say that it has been a great first bike for me thus far. I am only paying 290 for basic insurance for an entire year with Progressive.

I have driven my neighbor's Ninja 250 a decent amount and while it is very forgiving and fun to drive I feel like I would get tired of it quickly and want something with more power.

btw...I am getting low to mid 40mpg with the cbr.

                              RZ350 so awesome.

Insurance is really cheap on bikes. Mine is 1200cc and the insurance is still really cheap.

I want one of these RZ350 or RZ500's so badly:

                              RZ350

                              RZ350

                              RZ350-R !!

                              Custom RZ350
