My grandfather was a fairly prominent christian theologian, and anyone interested should read some of his works. I think I still have some of them around the house if anyone is interested. I am agnostic, btw.

Do some research, look further back. Many other figures present themselves with the same story. Born of a virgin, performed miracles, crucified, resurrected.

This is sheer ignorance. Do you believe in anyone that claims to be god?

What about all of these guys? Oh wait, you probably just never heard about them.

This will help you get the ball moving. Just food for thought. DO NOT take everything from this video for face value, do some research yourself. Look up the facts that this video presents yourself.

Ohhh, you break out with Zoroastrianism. These people, (humans) claim to be Prophets, devine speakers of their god's words. People who claim to be God are a different thread to get into all together.

Then we agree completely. I just wonder why you feel that keeping God in your rolodex makes your life any better. I remember being told that you had to keep serving God all the time, because if you didn't you were just using him when you needed him. A "fairweather" friend as it were.

I think some people do this, abuse God's services and then feel guilty for it, because their faith is not accompanied by appropriate levels of "works." Then there are those who believe they are abusing God's influence and don't feel guilty at all. If these people hadn't found God, their personality flaws would manifest in other ways, we can be certain of this.

I just don't think it's healthy for us to believe that there's this omnipotent being staring at us all the time. I think that the belief in God, or the search for God, is a by-product of self-awareness. Some people don't seem to be able to express certain aspects of their own human experience and maybe when they're saying "God helped me, it was a miracle" they're really saying "I don't have the self-esteem required to tackle sticky situations and I shouldn't be called upon to do that again"

I'm just totally fascinated by the psychology of religion.
Not that I care, of course.
