    Look what I dug up.

I stopped by my parents place yesterday and grabbed this out of the basement.

Its my old 1983 BMX Mongoose.

I am going to clean it up a bit and keep it as a reminder of when I was...cough cough...younger.

Anyone else rockin' a bike older than their car?

The geometry of BMX bikes has changes so much.

Thats nuts. I have a 1983 GT Pro Performance that I want to "restore". It was my loyal friend who took me everywhere.

This isn't mine, but very close. It has a white fork and white wire wheels, with white pads, blue accents and hardseat. It weighs a LOT.

When I have monies I plan to just touch up a few things, find some period correct white mags and call it a day.

I had the frame from 85 I restored. Mine was built for dirt track with the skinny tires.
Sold It on ebay a few years back. I think I got about 450 for it.

Great site to check for old BMX stuff. You guys probably have no idea what some people are willing to pay for this old school BMX stuff. I sold a complete 1982 24" Profile X-frame cruiser with gen 2 profile cranks last year for $2300.00. The bike was purchased new by my parents for one of my racing bikes back then, and it was something I had just held on too all of these years. I listed it for what I thought was a bit on the high side, but it sold in like 5 minutes. I guess, looking back now, I should have asked more for it, but at least it is being enjoyed by someone who knows what they have. I sold some other rare old BMX parts through that site as well and probably should have held on to the SST race lace hubs I had. Anywho thanks for bringing back those old school BMX thoughts...

I still have my old Diamondback BMX bike. We should have a BMX bike thread......well I guess there's already that bicycle thread but I can't relate to those much.

Well, posterity, you will never know what it cost us to preserve your freedom. I only hope that you will make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that I ever took half the pains to preserve it.
