There are multiple levels of Gay Music. Some bands are what we like to call Gateway Bands. They lure children in with Pop Grooves and Salacious Melodies leaving them wanting more. They’ll move on to more dangerous bands and the next thing you know you’ve got a homosexual for a child.

      Bands to watch out for

      * Wilco
Of course I can't say much as The Smiths, Morrissey and Radiohead were all on the list too.

          Depeche Mode,

Black and Blue strived to be Dokken

except that George Lynch was a much better guitar player than any of them...
besides Randy Rhodes who they all wanted to be...
Randy and Eddie VH were almost equals at that time...

I saw The Fixx at Velvet Sessions over the summer and they still rocked!!!
$25 all the food and drink and included the tickets too...
Orlando's Hard Rock Hotel Velvet Sessions are the sh*T!!!!!

My wife and I were against the stage on the left..
after the show the band came out and drank with everyone, way cool..
          great guys!!!

          Gay???
          NO this is Gay

          that's alright

Back in 1980, DM was nicknamed a "hairdresser" band. They were very young, very clean and had freshly cut hair, standing still when they would fake pushing keys on their synthesizers. But 1980's music was still pretty much rock-based. It took them a few years to reach full recognition. Mainly with "Everything counts". Then they got big, really big. And successes followed one after another. I saw them twice in 1986, and the number of hits they had was incredible.

Was DM influential? Nop. They followed other people's path. They just sounded more mainstream and had that feel for popular hits.
Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

Depeche Mode rules. I have every album along with some singles, and an autographed copy of Exciter. Is that wrong? :)

                    My favorite song:

Martin Gore looks hilarious in that one; he's a songwriting genius, though...

This has been my favorite DM song for the past few years. Its best to get a little buzzed, turn the bass up a bit and let the sound resonate through you to get the most from it.

nevermind the video and for the non-EDM type, fastforward about 3 minutes

I have come to the following conclusion:

Killing an Arab was the only A+ Cure song. I like quite a few of their songs, but Porl Thompson, holy crap, what an awful guitarist. He had a few good riffs in their discography, but most of his soloing is just terrible. It's like the worst form of aimless noodling.
Not that I care, of course.

The Depeche Mode is a great band IMHO. Got some of their tracks in my LimeWire profile. I was just listening to Enjoy The Silence yesterday.
