And they still make great Les Pauls. Fujigen made the Epiphone "Elite" Les Paul in recent years; a fantastic Les Paul but cost a fair bit more than the entry level USA Gibsons. Failed in the US market, of course. I guess someone at Gibson thought so highly of the Fujigen factory's Les Pauls, made for Gibson to sell in the Japan market, that they'd have a go with them in the US. The high price would have been enough to kill it in the US, but saddling it with the Epiphone brand made sure it would fail.

The Koreans have, for the most part, picked up OEM business the Japanese dominated in the '80s. Cort has shut down its Korea electric factory, with the bulk of their production now in their Indonesian factory. The quality/value is excellent, though.

Hardtail, nice; sustains for days. The Cherryburst on Swamp Ash with the TGN neck finish is killer.

Got wood binding, too. A man of taste.

thanks Dave. pics like this don't really do the G&L guys justice. something that really surprised me about this guitar when it showed up was the neck shape- it's kind of baseball bat fat. I love it.

There's some great gear on here!!!
I love guitars, and have been obsessed with them for a looong time.

                I love Strats.

In order, is a MIJ '72 reissue, a MIJ '57 reissue, a black '73, '69/'85 hybrid, '09 Eric Johnson signature, Sunburst '72, '02 Robert Cray signature, and current Ritchie Blackmore edition.

I switch back and forth between a Jubilee Marshall, and a '74 Pro Reverb for dirty/clean.

                      bumpin' up for "new" gear

60's japanese short scale jazz bass. Returned to playable condition, routed out space for mini-humbuckers, put them in, wanked around on the back a tad:

Tele, unknown custom-made body, Torres bridge and SD neck pickups, graphite saddles, Sprezels, a shitty neck I'm looking to replace, and a few electronics tweaks:

The old Univox is still kicking:

I also have a 1940's tube jukebox amp en route, as well as a 60's VOX 1x15 speaker cabinet. Plan is to make a pretty sweet tube guitar amp out of those two.

My arsenal. Used daily in bands, recording sessions and gigs.

(Check out my band KiNDERGARTEN at http://www.kindergartennyc.com)

                        1. 1990 Gibson SG Custom.
P94 in the Neck, unknown in the Bridge.
                        Name: Batman
My personal favorite and the one I will be buried with.

Batman in action at a KiNDERGARTEN show:

                        2. 1979 Gibson SG Special "Firebrand"
Extremely rare model, went on to become the "The SG" series
                        2 uncovered Factory Humbuckers
                        Name: Bruce Wayne

Bruce Wayne in Action during a FakeC/DC show (my AC/DC tribute band). This is after I stripped off the schoolboy uniform

                        3. 1984 Fender Stratocaster MIJ (Made in Japan)
Lace Sensors for extra special funk-a-tating
                        Name: Yoshi

Yoshi in action at a Michael Jackson tribute show (before he died):

                        4. MUTT:
Body - 1986 Fernandes Telecaster, Made in Japan (in the 80's Fernandes made better Fenders than Fender.
Neck - 1957 Fender Esquire neck, given to my boss by Jackson Brown.
This thing is a workhorse and a beast.
Doesn't have a name. If I did something faggy like name it, the guitar would get up and kick my ass.

The MUTT in action during a live radio performance with KiNDERGARTEN:

                        5. 2000's Gretsch White Falcon. Japanese Re-issue
Yes, a re-issue but a real beauty and fun as hell to play

The Gretsch in Action during an Elvis Costello Tribute Show:

                        Me as Elvis Costello:

                        6. 1977 Gibson Les Paul Jr.
                        Double P-90's.
Not the greatest guitar. It's got 2 killer P-90's but not the resonant body they need to really scream. But it's cute.

Also pictured: 1967 Fender Bandmaster. My personal favorite go to amp.

                        7. ESP M-1, 80's. For when I want to play like Eddie Van Halen.
Single humbucker distortion pickup and Floyd Rose system.
                        Name: The Chief Medical Officer

                        8. 1980's Hamer. Model unknown. I rarely play it. It was a handmedown. But it looks good on my wall. Used to me hot pink until my uncle sanded the paint off

                        9. 1967 Gibson EB-3 Bass. Dude, this thing is a freakin monster. Also a very rare, not production model. Good luck finding anotehr one with that identical pickup/switch set-up. This was a prototype that never went into production. Now it's mine.

                        10. Stella Sundale. This piece of shit is so damn warped, I can only use it as a slide guitar. Fun!

                        11. Fender Mandolin. Why not?

                        12. Yamaha 12-string. Why not?

                        AND THE PIECE DE RESISTANCE:
This is not my guitar. But I am fortunate to get to use it often in recording sessions. The guitar is question is the one furthest to the right. it is a
                        1954 Gibson Les Paul Jr.
I call it "HOLY FUCKIN SHIT THIS IS THE GREATEST GUITAR IVE EVER PLAYED".

                          Two things:

1.) A proper LP Jr. is possibly the best-sounding guitar of all time. At least the meanest, if not the sweetest

2.) You should hand over that EB-3. Now. I can hear it blooming through my Alembic/Mesa rack already. It's the right thing to do.

wow how did i not know about this thread earlier. i play a lot of older rock, mainly ac/dc stuff, some motley crue, oh and a TON of Eddie Van Halen.

Have a original 1958 Gibson ES-335TD (good luck finding one in minty condition like mine!)

also have a B.C. Rich Virgin special edition with all the floyd rose goodies.

amp of choice is my Fender Frontman 212-r, also have the original gibson falcon amp that came with my es335 new. again, goodluck finding that!
