what is a good breed specific for a rotti?
i was feeding him nutro large breed (so so food) then one day he started shedding coat like crazy for no reason. i tried several different brands and settled on solid gold wolf king bison and salmon. that was fine (although he wasn't totally keen on eating it like the nutro) for a while, but after being let go from work i switched back to the nutro for now since i can't do $60+ for a bag of food right now. i haven't had any ill effects from it though. and i am giving him a glucosamine and chondroitin pill separately

I dont remember the price, but Im sure it's between Solid Gold and Nutro. But you might want to give Royal Canin Joint and Coat Care28. They have started putting some "filler" in as of recently but it's still a superior food (believe it or not there is a difference in "filler" quality) compared to other store brands. It's for large heavy breeds and includes the gluc and chon in the formula.

Or Natural Balance. It's very very good stuff for a reasonable price. If you were to use this one you would need to give the supplements still. heres the ingredients. Heres the sweet potato/venison...

Hey Der Affe, a decent dog food for cheap is Costcos Kirkland brand dog food. The top 3 ingredients are meats, then a couple meat meals, wheat, and rice. If you can find their organic, its supposed to be better, but Ive never used that. Our little dogs get the Solid gold, our White German Sheppard gets Costco's dog food, since she eats like crazy. Its only like $20 for a 40 lb. bag IIRC.

yep- what he said again. Costco Kirkland food is a very good price for it's quality. A good maintenance food for dogs with no issues to worry of.

My girlfriends sister in law breeds pomeranians. Not little muts, but champion pomeranians. The only ones she feeds the solid gold are the pregnant bitches. Everyone else gets Costco dog food.

Der Affe, just be careful. Dont get dog food that Costco sales... make sure its Kirkland brand. Because they sell bags that sort of look like their brand, but its an off brand, and cheap. The puppy is in a yellow bag, and I THINK the dog is in a green bag I want to say. I know the cat food is a purple bag (thats what we feed our cats also).
