Can anyone here think of another very intelligent, well spoken politician with a magnetic personality in this past century? That turned out to be something very different from what all were led believe?

Step back and look at what's not so on TV and in your face.

But what the hell do I know...

McCain scared the hell out of me as well...

            Quoted because I agree.

I will always respect the office of the president. That doesn't mean I have to like him or his policies. Obama is too inexperienced, plain and simple. I'm not a republican, and I didn't vote McCain because he is one. I voted for him because his speeches and his plans made more sense to me than Obama's.

Barack Obama’s senior advisers have drawn up plans to lower expectations for his presidency if he wins next week’s election, amid concerns that many of his euphoric supporters are harboring unrealistic hopes of what he can achieve.

I thought this country was going to be stupid enough to elect Bush III. Glad the Retardicans were kept down where they belong.

So, Ron Paul got beaten by Ralph Fucking Nader, Bob Barr, Chuck Baldwin, Cynthia "fucked in the head batshit insano" McKinney, and Alan "best known for discussing anal fisting with Borat" Keyes.

What the fuck happened with that 40 million, a blimp and all that "rLOVElution" bullshit?

And no, the country is not gonna fall apart. But there's gonna be a lot of disillusionment when he fails to live up to the bar he set for himself here at home and abroad.

Everything he wants to do has to be initiated and passed by Congress, and the kinds of bills he will try to push through will get beaten up, and if they ever get passed will be a shell of what he intended them to be, with earmarks accounting for most of the bill. This isn't any fault of his, or the Democrats specifically, it's how the country works, and was set up to work.

Time will tell where we are after the Bush terms. I agree, I'm no fan of him but we're too close to them to dispassionately judge them. After 4 years, then we can look back. If it's still a failure (and I think they will be, but not quite on the scale people think they are now), then so be it.

And by the way, don't assume I voted along Republican/Democrat lines for the sake of it. (his words, not mine.) If you had been paying attention, you would see I've posted things in praise of Obama, for certian things he's done or said. His dealing with his illegal aunt comes to mind, I was pleased with how he handled that situation and pointed it out. He's an incredibly smart man, well-learned, and I have nothing but respect for him and the office he now holds.

And good luck on your military career. What route are you persuing to get there? AF, Navy, or Marines?
sorry to sound recalcirtrant but i have had to defend myself much lately among some colleagues. i feel some in the military realm get too caught up in the cultureto see the forest for the trees. I am ANG/ CA 144FW (vipers). I will be in UPT next summer, dont know where yet though. and good luck to you. We are all on the same side.

When all is said and done, the simple fact of the matter is that he won the election the exact same way that every winning presidential candidate has done in the last 50-60 years.

By promising a bunch of great, wonderful things, and by the end, following through on about 5-10% of them. It would have been the exact same story if McCain had won, or anyone else.

It's the same thing that happens every 4 years, and anyone who can't see it is either blind or living under a rock.

McCain gave a nice concession speech. He regained a lot of the respect I had lost for him after his slimy ass POS campaign. After the dust settles, I think the GOP will have a lot of infighting and finger pointing, and one hopes we will have seen the last of the whack job from Wasilla.

                                God Bless America.
