No, I voted for a law that would prevent 'revolving door' type justice. There have been dozens of studies showing that when drug offenders are sent to jail, it does nothing but cost the state tens of thousands of dollars in wasted $. They get sent to jail, get out, start using again, and end up back in jail. Nothing is done to actually stop them from doing drugs, just throw 'em in jail and all's well, right?
Addiction counseling and rehabilitation have been shown, through those same dozens of studies, to be hands-down a better way of treating drug offenses. It's better at preventing people from going back to drugs, better and helping them improve their lives, and better at keeping them from becoming repeat offenders. Not to mention is costs many, many times less than multiple jail stints. And I know you're a fan of reducing gov't spending :)
It's all over

McCain, at least during the campaign, never demonstrated to a sufficient number of Americans that he knew what he was doing. And the choice of Palin cinched it.
The McCain campaign had numerous occasions to demonstrate it was on top of the issues. Instead, they chose a negative tack and avoided addressing the issues, while attempting to create fear of the opponent. It failed.
If one message is clear this election season, it is that Americans are, by and large, sick of negative campaigning. It certainly took out Elizabeth Dole, who, while insisting she was a Christian, took the very un-Christian approach of loudly trying to convince her constituents that her opponent was a "godless athiest". And the voters put Dole out of office.
And before you attack Obama further, you might consider looking at those very experienced people he has surrounded himself with. He doesn't pretend to know everything, which I find refreshing.Leave a comment:

So you voted to put criminals away? I thought you voted for rehab and keeping dangerous people on the street. It's not their "fault", they are just sick. Right?Leave a comment:

Considering R3V has been full of typical 4chan edits of Obama lately, why the hell not add some more?

Well wouldn't you say that Bush has more experience at being a president then either McCain or Obama? He has been doing it for going on 8 years now.
So does that mean you would have voted for Bush if he could have been on the ballot?Leave a comment:

That may be.
One could also say that some were more willing to elect more of what we have dealt with for the past 8 years than elect a black man.Leave a comment:

I'm laughing about America.
It was more important to have a black man in the White House than elect a person that knows what he's doing.Leave a comment:

[quote=Turf1600;1259484]Worst excuse ever.
Sorry, while I like to take part in the discussion of what is OUR hobby (that's why we are here remember, not to discuss politics and/or bash), that's why I'm on this forum. Having my car done reall isn't my biggest priority....
I really like my car, I really want to have a fully built autox car, and I like all that comes with both of those, but if the money isn't there it isn't there.
My hours were cut back for all of 08, and then a few weeks ago I was laid off. I had been there for 10 years.
So maybe that excuse isn't the one you want to hear, but its the only one I've got.:)Leave a comment:

I wonder how many friendly online relationships have been strained in a big way because of all the political talk leading up the election....
Kind of silly....I for one haven't taken anything personal enough to even remember who said what............?Leave a comment:

"it's all over" was referring to the election, not the country. I posted it just after all the major news networks called the election. I wasn't referring to the current/future state of the country. This thread's title reads "It's all over"... I think quite the opposite. "It's a new beggining" is more appropriate. Hopefully, the nonsense of the past 8 years can gradually be corrected.
I much prefer the rethoric of "We can make it", than "God made me do it". More "Together" and less "With me or against me".
Still, I'm just glad this 2 year clusterfuck is over!Leave a comment:

Amazing how everyone seems to have crystal balls they can rub to see the future.
How the hell do any of you broke ass baggypants claim to know shit about what Obama's gonna do or not gonna do?? (same thing for those who claim that McCain would have ruined the country if he won).. If you listened to all the election ads to get your info, you're clueless.Leave a comment:
