the 401k thing is the biggest issue to me. I doubt most of revvers here care, because few of you actually have a retirement account. But I'm a little pissed that I finally started to get somewhere, and now the goverment wants to fuck me over.

Punish hard work, reward lazy fucks.

    Actually, you can't do math.

    1776: No income tax
1861: Income tax to pay for civil war
    1872: Income tax abolished
    1913: Income tax amendment

    85 years before + 41 years in-between >> 95 years since 1913 and 11 years between 1861 and 1872.

We used the money to fight the South and then fight the communists and their failed system of equalizing the wealth... and now the revenue source for the wars is being used to turn the country socialist. awesome.

Of course not but we are talking about a highly conservative, anti-socialist government at the time and people were paying 84% to be exact. It wasn't until Reagan came to office that things changed and they have gone down even more since he left office. People should feel lucky that they are only paying 33%. Some taxes are necessary and if you keep lowering them, there will be no money at all.

read the article. Seriously. Know what you are talking about, then formulate an opinion, then argue it respectfully. This is how it's done, kids. Most people on the board have gotten decent at it, you're behind the curve.

I just read the whole thing (yes, the whole thing). great info, and really scary. I for one don't see anything this drastic taking effect, but it is definitely within the realm of possibility. One thing I might have missed in the article though.. if the Government keeps handing out money (as in, returning investors to Mid-August levels) would that not create a serious inflation problem?

I really hope spreading the wealth is as easy on April 15 as it is on November 4.
