the 401k thing is the biggest issue to me. I doubt most of revvers here care, because few of you actually have a retirement account. But I'm a little pissed that I finally started to get somewhere, and now the goverment wants to fuck me over.

Guest repliedActually the first income tax was introduced in the 1860's so there has been an income tax for the majority of the nations history. You're forgetting income taxes didn't even exist for majority of the nation's history. That, or you never knew.
We used the money to fight the South and then fight the communists and their failed system of equalizing the wealth... and now the revenue source for the wars is being used to turn the country socialist. awesome.Leave a comment:

In the 1950's during the height of the Cold War, the highest tax bracket paid 90% of their money back to the government. Nobody was making any socialist claims about or tax system then. People should be lucky that the highest they will ever have to pay is 33%.

Guest repliedWe are too sophisticated for Starbucks. Up here we prefer the independent shop across the street where coffee costs even more.In the PNW, being educated means going to Starbucks to read a blog that informs them how to adopt someone else's beliefs instead of being capable of learning concepts and finding information and determining their opinions for themselves.
Hence, they bypass anything that may take comprehension and just wait for Obama to come and tell them why it is a good idea.Leave a comment:

Read it all, and understand it. Because if you're going to badmouth people and preach your ideals form the rooftops, perhaps you should be willing to read an article based on the practical application of your ideals. That's called being educated.

Guest repliedOf course not but we are talking about a highly conservative, anti-socialist government at the time and people were paying 84% to be exact. It wasn't until Reagan came to office that things changed and they have gone down even more since he left office. People should feel lucky that they are only paying 33%. Some taxes are necessary and if you keep lowering them, there will be no money at all.Leave a comment:

read the article. Seriously. Know what you are talking about, then formulate an opinion, then argue it respectfully. This is how it's done, kids. Most people on the board have gotten decent at it, you're behind the curve.Just shut up about all the "spread the wealth", socialist bullshit. I just read the whole thing (yes, the whole thing). great info, and really scary. I for one don't see anything this drastic taking effect, but it is definitely within the realm of possibility. One thing I might have missed in the article though.. if the Government keeps handing out money (as in, returning investors to Mid-August levels) would that not create a serious inflation problem?

I really hope spreading the wealth is as easy on April 15 as it is on November 4.Leave a comment:
