    should i do this?

alright pplz, ive had a 91 rx7 turbo for a few yrs now, besides the 325is...and its about time i get rid of the rx7 and maybe a new toy. I've had my rx posted on rx7club.com for awhile probably 3 months and many offers so far but none close to what i really want for the car. I just got an offer about 2 days ago that was so far the most reasonable one ive gotten. The offer wus for a 02 yamaha r6 and my question to everyone is do u think its worth it. heres some info that the guy sent me on the bike and a couple pics. Im trying to get around 6500 for the rx7 and the guy said he wants to trade the bike + 1000$ for my car. Ive got a couple buddies who are really into bikes, but ive never owned one yet so not too sure on how much this bike is really worth.

here's the bike and some info lemme know wut u guys think.

About the bike: clean tittle, 12K mile, just finish major tuneup,
red/white/black color, never layed down, dropped once due to high wind
wheh the bike was parked, but no damage. run real strong and fast.
    registered untill 10/09

upgrade: aftermarket chrome rim (the real stuff, not polished stuff),
chopped micron slip-on (sound real mean), chrome endbar, vortex carbon
frame slider, vortex spool slider, micro signal front and back, fender
eliminator, aftermarket alarm, double buoble screen, new battery, new
    stator.

if you want, i have a used icon claymore airframe helmet ($300 new) (the
one with devil horn on the picture, but dont worries, i took the horn
off), a used frankthomas leather jacket ($400 new), and a pair of used
cortex carbon glove. All red, white, and black, matching the bike.

The bike does have some small crack and scratch on the bottom plastic
because i when over a high speed bump. But i ziptied it. It is fine to
ride with. But if you really want to be clean. I suggest get a new one
    for like 100-120 on ebay.

I babies this bike very much. keep it nice and shiny all the time. The
only reason i am trading/selling is because i have 3 bikes and no car. I
needed a car now. I owned that 91 vert on the background of the pix.
babies all the time too. But i gave it to my little bro. So now i am
    looking for a turbo rotary.

here's my 7 im tradin, its actually red just a B&W pic

Imo that could be a good deal. The KBB value is about 5k which I think is a little high for right now, but pretty close. A 600 is a hand full for a beginner though. However, i'm sure somebody else is going to chime in here and talk about how they started on a 600 and it was wonderful and you'll look like a pansy on anything smaller than 600 ect... If you feel lucky go for it. I would take the deal and sell the bike to get one thats a bit more beginner friendly and cheaper so that when you do drop it (and you will) you wont be crying over destroyed fairings.

    My 2 cents
    1987 325is - sold

I would keep the rx7, based only on that helmet.

You might get better feedback from, you know, a motorcycle forum.

well the only reason i am kinda considering this deal is because its the only offer ive gotten in 3 months that is actually sorta worth the same amount as my car is. ive ridin my friends 03 cbr before which didnt feel hard to handle at all so thats not rlly an issue, just dunno if its worth it is all. the bike would get some damn good gas mileage tho ;)

              99-02 r6's are worth like 3500 bucks. 3000 now that it's winter. 2 years ago i sold my 01 with 10k miles for 3200.

while it's not a terrible thing, this generation of r6's was carbed. I owned my first fi bike (06 636) and loved it, so much easier to deal with on startup. I recommend a newer r6, cbr600rr, zx6r, etc.

also, take the msf course. and don't buy one of these if its your first bike, get something slower (katana, fzr600, cbr600 f3, gs500e, etc)

i think you have a case to sue the owner of the yamaha for punitive damages. but ive yet to confirm it with dave

R6-=crap. Road a few of them and hate the powerband. If it were a Suzuki or a Kawasaki I'd say jump on it in my opinion

+1, my friend bought an 03 R1 for $6700, you could do better than an 02 R6...In no way mistake that for me saying to buy an R1 for your first bike, I'm just saying the R6 is worth a lot less than your car.

that the r6 has a crappy power band . That it has nothing below 7grand. The other makes I named have a more lowend and therefor pull harder.

Based on the fact you've never owned a bike, I'm not sure if an R6 would be a good starter.

                              Just my two cents.
