1st Gen R6's have weak tranny's, 2nd gear likes to die on them big time.
The low mileage helps, but if its been abused, 2nd gear will be on its way out. If you're really interested in it, tell him to take the bike to a shop of YOUR choice and have a full inspection and test ride performed on the bike.
Unfortunately bikes rarely sell for the BBK value, because financing is so much easier on a new one and its only a few grand more.
Lastly, if you haven't ridden before (and I don't mean riding your buddies dirt bike around the block) I would consider something a bit tamer for your first bike. But at a minimum go take the MSF course and then practice.Need parts now? Need them cheap? steve@blunttech.com

ya i really want a bike but i think ide rather pick one i want, or get a newer one. and i actually just put in a freshly rebuilt 91 jspec motor in my rx7 its only got a 1000 miles on it. i have a good friend who lives in oakland california who knows where to get jspec motors imported like the one i got. i bought mine from him but i can ask some questions if u want or just go on rx7club.com and ppl will know where u can get a nice jspec motor still running from japan with decent miles, perfect base for a rebuild.Comment
