Boat Engined 325Eta? What the hell

"I am almost positive it has a bilge pump style engine worth from
    25,000 to 120,000 dollars"
He was told this by 2 people:
During the year 1986 BMW tried to make a marine engine division in which they made engine for boats they had two styles of engines abasic engine for the lower priced boat that didn't have a TT(Twin Turbo and couldn't have a TT) but any ways the Bmw plant made a mistake and accidentally put there marine engine in their 325s and put some of there auto engines in boats and the engines in the boats which blew up and bmw was forced to shut down their marine division but the cars that got the boat engine ended up getting a heavy duty extras high performance marine engine that is more than impossible to kill. Some of the TT engines went into the car themselves which means they can support a TT. People who have these bilge pump style cars have real collector items and have an estimated value of 25,000-120,000$ but often the people who have them don't know it till they take their car to a marine mechanic. Some people who have the TT style engine have put murphy turbos on it and have gotten over 500hp and don't have to worry about the engine blowing. Some defining characteristics of a bilge pump style engine is high miles seems more peppy than other BMWs and seems to rev when in park or neutral higher then other cars and will likely have gone through a couple transmissions.

I thought BMW used a m21 diesel variant in some boats?

He sent me pics of the engine. Looks like a generic M20B27 to me.

Well, I guess it can be described as a 'boat engine'. It's appropriately slow :(
