I know they do it because there are times of the season that are slow and times that are busy, so they're preparing, but fuck, they're still illogical about it. Then they give us a few 4 hour shifts instead of less 8 hour shifts, makes no sense.sigpic

Most places do not give a fuck if they are overstaffed, as far as techs go. I know here they do not. They only pay you for the work you do anyhow. The more techs, the better and more closely you will look over the car for up sales. Thus earning the dealership more money. They (everyone IVe worked at) dont really give much about the tech's hours earned, rather their total in net profit.Originally posted by blunti would jerk larry king off while tonging jflips ass if h0lmes would blow his head off

Laid off is much better than fired. Unemployment benefits to tide you over, and your reputation stays intact. Unless there are gross offenders, usually the last hired is the first let go.
But an out of work technichian is in a potentially very lucrative self-emloyment position. Especially tough times like these where people are looking to save money, namely in the repair of their autos. One of our former techs is making so much free-lance that he probably will not come back to a dealer.

We (the parts dept.) just did inventory last week, so this week was the annual mass firing spree for the year. That place is almost running on a skeleton crew now. If GM implodes at the end of the year, we will be royally screwed....Jason
