Tatra trucks aren't known at all in North America, but they were extremely successfull for years at the famous Paris-Dakar rallye. There also were 200km/h prototype race trucks. Until an accident made severl casualties and prototype trucks got banned.

Here's something I have never seen before. Go to 1:50mn and check what it takes to get you out when your mammouth truck is stuck in deep sand. Incredible.
