My parents have had DirecTV for the past eight years or so. They have the "Choice Plus" plan or whatever it's called. It's a good price for the amount of channels (and HD channels). Like any satellite provider, inclimate weather is sketchy, but we've had relatively few issues with that. The service staff is competent and reliable (and they speak English.) Great porn selection too.

I've had both for several years, dish is at home now. They're both great, both better than digital cable IMO. Really I'd just check out the channels they offer and pricing, I haven't had any issues with either one. Also look into package deals if you're phone and internet service are the same company as one of them

ive had direct TV for maybe 5 years and it really sucks during bad weather,.. heavy rain or snow and forget about it. for that reason alone i would not recommend it. the only reason i havent switched is im scared of cable installers running 400 feet of cable all over my house across windows and generally fucking my house up. i swear all you have to have to be qualified as an installer is a pulse. worst bunch of hacks ive ever seen and they are all the same. if there are any installers on this forum you suck too,. no exceptions

I elected to run my own cables and internet lines in my house, I only let them hook it up and test it. While I watched them. lol

I think the deciding factor.... Football fan or not. We had dish and I was pretty happy with it. Customer service was good, channel options were pretty good also. We have whatever the premium package is on DirecTv now, and our bill is $175 a month with NFL Sunday ticket, Superfan, every movie channel and HD. Ive been happy with it so far. Their customer service is also nice, along with good quality channels. Deciding factor should be if you ever want to buy the Sunday Ticket or not.

People say that... Ive never had a problem yet with my reception. The only time is if the piece of shit cat is laying on the box, and hitting the antennae with his tail. But I also live in a mild climate by the beach, with NOTHING in the way of my signal.

See I hear that a lot, but I had more problems losing picture with cable than satelite. It rarely goes out in bad weather, and only if it's a really bad storm, or lots of snow(remember it's washington) Cable obviously doesn't go bad in bad weather, but it used to go out all the time for other reasons when I had it. We've had dish network for at least 5 years now.

Maybe your dish was just aimed wrong.
