It's not a double standard because it is not applied to the same type of law enforcement,

It's the law and it's being violated by our government, why does that not sink in for you?

This was not at the border, this was on a public road.

I have two good friends that are immagration officers. One is here in atlanta and one is in New Mexico. You cannot begin to imagine how much they love the country the hail from and their fellow citizens. They clock in every morning and risk their lives (if you are not border patrol you cannot understand the full scope of the job) to ensure that nothing happens to all of us. I take serious offense to the things some of you are saying. When you go to work, does it directly affect the "company"? If your superiors ask you to do something for the good of the company, do you do it? If the govt. deems it legal and you are told it is, you do. That is exactly what these men and women are doing. If you have a problem, write your local government. Don't badger the people who make absolutley NONE of the decisions. This is why we have elected officials.

So these guys and girls are hacks... nice.
Border patrol has to be one of the EASIEST jobs in America, most are obviously failures at life and winners at McDonalds. I'd never work there because I know I'd be wasting tax payers money and time. Get a job as a local police officer where you can actually make a difference.
Watch it pal. You have absolutly NO clue what you are talking about.
If you want to test immigration patrols, go into Mexico and deal with Fedarales. Or fly into Paris and have a look see around Charles Degaul. Or maybe head into eastern europe and see how you fair there. Say no to any of these patrols and be prepared to have a boot on your neck whilst laying face down on the pavement. Oh wait, you won't do that. You will hide here and whine and test OUR system b/c you know you can get away with it.
        You make me sick.

You might not agree with this, but the courts would uphold the existence of roadblocks as being necessary to secure our borders. Also, did you ever think that perhaps this road is known to be used by illegal traffickers? 40 miles is not really that far from the border. He is not questioned in a quest for evidence, nor is he accused of any wrongdoing. It's not any different than a police officer asking if you've been drinking when he pulls you over.

Also, he is not initially being detained. the agent is trying to determine if he is a United States citizen. When he refuses to comply, he is then outside the law and is detained until his citizenship can be established. Technically, he could be arrested for obstruction of Justice, so I think he got off easily. One of the Reserve instructor pilots here in Corpus is a Border Patrol helicopter pilot in Laredo, TX who takes fire while flying in support of the Border Patrol. What point is this guy trying to prove again?

And, before you complain about something being unconstitutional, read the constitution. If you're gonna argue something, at least know what you're arguing about.
            amen.

              Link no work.
I am freaking livid. It pisses me off the ungratefulness and lack of thought that some people display.
I was talking to a kid the other day who is going into the Core when he graduates. He said something to the affect of "i am glad I am enlisting, I just wish i wasn't protecting the nay-sayers."
I told him the nay-sayers are just as important as the supporters. Wrong or right, you protect them all. Even if you don't agree with their views, you serve them.
This is something my father told me. it's the reason I wear an original POW bracelet.
Too bad the nay-sayers don't feel the same way.

Extremely, I wrote a philosophy paper based part off that video.

My thoughts exactly. It's like the point just sailed over everyone's head, a shady newly created government organization is breaking the law, and everyone gets mad at the guy with the camera.

This isn't about the marines (whom I deeply love and respect, and have family members serving), or the border patrol (who do a dangerous job to protect us all), or police (who put their lives on the line every day to keep our society together), this is about a vaguely defined government agency reaching beyond it's already blurry jurisdiction to impede the freedoms of good americans.

My grandfather would be disgusted by this, he didn't take fire from Nazi motherfuckers so 60 some years down the line we could start behaving in just the same way.

Watch the video. I knew nothing about politics untill I started cramming a month or so before the election. Put in about 20 hours worth of conversations between friends, teachers, and family. All of whom were voting for Obama. They all agreed that video is like nothing they have ever heard of. There original Orwelian opinion about all republicans being redneck dumbasses came to light.

Listen to it like you you watched the BBC video...

Never did I say to take everything they said literally

our government and constituation is all fucked up, and you think We're missing the point about a boarder officer is asking a man if he is a U.S citizan?

Do you even know anything about the Nazi philosophy? If you did, and you were against it, you wouldn't dare post such a comment in regard to your grandfather. You need to get your head out of your ass for the sake of your fathers reputation.

                            and how old are you?

You are correct. Still missing the point though.
Would you like some information on the Nazi philosophy next?
