Glenlivet is my goto choice when I am out or the bar doesn't have my fav Glenmorangie readily available. Can't go wrong with it at all, great product for the money...

Last time I had it other than tonight was right around Halloween, A buddy of mines Parent's were having a Pig roast and made about 2 gallons of it with about 2 jars of shine.
Pa skipped over Tuesday and got the liquor. We gave a jar of it to my sister's fiance who just turned 21 last month. He loved it.

Yep. The Glenlivet is very pure, it's a great baseline to compare other scotches to. When Glenmorangie switched to their new branding that's when they sort of lost me. They really increased the prices! Prior to the switch I liked their 12 year offerings, their 10 year being the mildest 10 year I've ever had.

I got some Speyburn 10y for a Bday gift earlier this year and it is alright, not all that IMHO. The nose is elegant and light with boiled apricot and rosted almond hints. The taste recalls a liquorice and is rather sweet and pleasant with a hint of vanilla that completes the impression. Afterwards it leaves a rather charred oaky taste on the palate.

edit ~~ I also have some of that home brewed shine as well. Leaves you feeling all warm and fuzzy inside...

                          Fuck man.

I just finished off an Old Guardian and I'm feeling the urge to crack open a couple year old Russian Imperial Stout to get the job finished... Stone Brewing btw, just some stuff I've been hanging on to.
