I have nothing but love and respect for the men and women serving in our armed forces, and I'm very liberal.
I don't think it's fair to judge a large group of people for the actions of a few, liberal does not equate to soldier hater.
I know for a fact both liberal and conservative groups have chosen very poor places and times to make their voices heard.
The Iraq war is a failure of our government at it's highest levels, no man on the ground should ever be held accountable for the deeds of politicians.
Thank you to all the members of our military that have served bravely and with distinction!

i have never had anything against the military or against fighting wars and almost joined the USMC my self, but i have never really liked the fact that we got involved in iraq. i have no problem with the fact that we are in afganistan because that was justified. i just don't really think that we ever had a good reason to go into iraq. everyone now knows that the wmd's were foobar and there are many places in the world that have dictators just as bad if not wors then that prick we hung over in iraq and we have never gone into those countries and liberated them. i don't know... i think we could have saved a lot of american lives by not going into iraq. i have always had an america first attitude, and i think we have plenty of our own problems here that we should fix before we going freeing people in other countries, and that the american people should come before any iraqi.Last edited by deutschman; 12-29-2008, 12:08 PM.Leave a comment:

First of all, thank you for your service. It is appreciated by the majority of Americans, even if it doesn't feel that way sometimes.
I was in for 20 years. Although there are a lot of things to NOT like about the military, in the end, we are the best that there is. I was proud to serve and proud of what I did and what I accomplished. Without the military, I would not be the man I am today.
Those of us who serve understand the issues. I can tolerate an Army veteran complaining about conditions in the Army, etc. You've been there, you can complain. I can't stand to listen to civilians who have never served bad mouth the military. They have as much experience with it as I have with going to the moon.
What has happened in Iraq is an overall good thing, even if the decisions to go there were flawed (if they even were... history will tell). You have freed millions of people. They are now going to have to stand on their own and they are in a good position to succeed if they choose to do so.
What the military has done for the world in the last 20 years is amazing. I hope in the future that we never need to use our soldiers in anger again. I know that isn't possible, but I can hope for it.
All these dumbass protesters know about is the worthless and inaccurate crap they get fed by the media. They simply don't understand that the only reason that they are safe and can actually take the condescending attitude that they have is because of people like you. They really, really don't understand. They take a polarizing position because that is what all the other losers they hang out with do. Then they go out and think they are actually doing good by badmouthing what soldiers have to do. Unbelievable. If anybody badmouths any of you, then you are perfectly justified in busting them in the chops. If they fight back... they just contradicted themselves. ;-)Leave a comment:

You guys keep on doing what you are for this country. There are plenty that appreciate all that you are doing and sacrificing for this country. And thank you for it too, without your service to this country we would not be this great nation without it...
Thank youLeave a comment:

What about congress? What about the others that voted to go to war and then changed those votes later? Don't blame it all on one man.
You can not like the president, thats fine. Everyone is entitled to those opinions. Just don't try and put the blame on one man.
I feel bad for my brothers who get harrassed by protestors.
As an American Society, things change, but not following through with something, or having the stomach to continue what you started just shows you how pussified our nation is becoming.
That wasn't aimed at just one man, I'm not a fan of the way Iraq was handled, but it really pisses me off when protesters go after the military personnel who are not the ones making the decisions.Leave a comment:

Ive often wondered the same thing...it sounds messed up but in a lot of ways I wish the West coast would get hit by something...snap these people up to the reality of the real world.u know, there are a lot of us in the PNW that see it differently, and by that i mean we support all you do and count our blessings.
it's the fuckups that get the news time in seattle, olympia and pdx. if we're ever attacked at home, we'll see how they react to those in uniform. i'm guessing they'd be greatful, and their "principled" ant-war, anti-military attitudes would evaporate pretty quickly. i wonder if they'd pick up a gun if needed?Leave a comment:

so is pdx and it sucks. I still cant believe my sis, a combat medic that also worked at the only civillian hospitol in afghanistan who helped children on a daily basis as well as went on convoys, was called a baby killer.
So many things I could list of the problems she faced while over there...moral and what not of dealing with the taliban.
Ignorant people, small minded people are the ones that actually believe world wide peace is possible.Leave a comment:

I think BMW owners are more conservative in general.
I was at the Mariners game in Seattle a while back and my friend was home from Iraq (his second tour thus far). After the game when came outside and there was this loser ass protester. He was saying a bunch of offense stuff. My army buddy confronted him and asked him to stop. The guy noticed the 4 bracelets on my friends wrists for his fallen buddies and told him that his friends died for nothing and wasted their lives (amongst other really disgusting shit). My friend wanted to kill the guy and if we hand pinned him down he would have. I hate protesting losers like that. Leave me alone and just go blog somewhere. The NW is a shite place to be in uniform no matter the branch or service... I wish I would have known about the recruiting station getting blocked downtown PDX to the army station. Man I would have loved to have just walked up to those guys and have one of them touch me... I know I sound like a net tough guy, but damit that shit pisses me off.
I prolly would have gone to jail, but you know what...it would have been worth it. :D
But then again, if they touched me first...self defense :D hehehehe.
Sorry you had to see/hear that BS.
Seattle is full of people like that.Leave a comment:

Its one of those things you have to put up with. When I was in Germany, the same thing happened. But its understandable there, I suppose.
If someone assaults me for being in uniform, I usually carry a 6 cell maglite and some cuffs. hhahahaha
Again, not trying to troll, or turn this into a hate thread. Trying to keep it civilized.Leave a comment:
